0 Hey there....
I've got a macbook pro, 2019, 2.6GHz 6 Core intel Core i7, 16GB memory etc..... I'm not a computer nut....however, i feel like it's not powerful enough for the drone sims that I use.... liftoff and TRYP....what would be a good computer setup, preferably apple (mac) that would be able to handle the simulators? any opinions?

20 11-Mar-2023, 06:08 PM (This post was last modified: 11-Mar-2023, 06:09 PM by Rob Axel.) Lift of fc is a heavy sim for some computers .. I ran “Flowstate” until I got a gaming laptop..
There is another on “steam” .. it’s only $5, and very computer freindly..
I will say do some googling .. to set these up and set “gravity” so the quads will “feel” as normal as possible..

101 you cant buy enough performance to come close to the reality. best cpu and graphics.
but you could buy a new every two months xD
your notebook doesnt sound to bad, did you some adjustements on the simulator to lower performance requirements?
velocidrone wouöd be a simulator which require low performance, does work on many machines with adjustements, maybe you should give it a try.

14 I feel like my PC in some regards has less power at several years old and the specs:
i5 8600k @ 3.6 ghz
32gb ram
Geforce 1070
But it has ZERO issues running: Tryp, Liftoff, DRL, Velocidrone, AI Sim, Uncrashed and some others. While my 1070 is a bit old for 2023, I'm assuming it's a little more horsepower than an older laptop would have.

41 If Freerider Recharged will run on my 2nd Gen Intel laptop with Intel Graphics, it will run on your Macbook without issue. Don't get it from Steam, get it from Itch.io, or at least that's what I did as I suspect the developer gets a bit more of the money, than if they do it on Steam.
https://fpv-freerider.itch.io/fpv-freerider-recharged As mentioned it won't feel real like when you actually fly, but it gives you the sandbox to play in without worrying about crashes. I learnt to fly acro in Freerider.
Depending on the graphics card you have, I think you might actually get away with Liftoff Micro on your Macbook. It uses less resources than full Liftoff. Maybe try it.

19 Tiny Whoop Go might be a better bet than LiftOff Micro and you can make you own simplistic tracks to really minimise computer loading.

41 Oh and if you do decide to try Freerider Recharged, one of our members (brettbrandon) made a load of custom levels for it.
https://intofpv.com/t-fpvfreerider-recha...r-download The Cafe levels are especially good for learning to dive and loop.

0 I reccomend just trying stuff out.
For what it's worth: I run TinyWhoop Go (which says it needs fancy graphics) on a Surface Go v1 with 8gb ram and integrated graphics.
Resolution at 50 / 60 fps is acceptable, and way better than what I see through my goggles when I actually fly!

0 It all comes down to the graphics card youre running in you're pc and the video resolution and video settings you are on. If you lower the settings you might be able to make it work. But I can say with gaming being a second hobby and having a decent gaming rig I can stresstest my graphics card with liftoff if I want to. I feel that it is not to be underestimated that it is probally on the heavier side of simulators.
Try to find out what kind of graphics card you have, try lowering resolution and video settings and try a lighter sim if that doesnt work.
