Charger-Hota 6+ / Hota 6 pro
#1
.. ok, i have done my research, looking at one of these two.. I know rhey are VERY similar in specs. The 6+ has another 100w, compared to the pro.. but i think thar is only accessible by using 24v dc(I think). The plus has “wireless phone charging”. (Not important), both have balance discharge of 1.6mh (very important)..
This will be in my bag, mostly on 110v or 12v.. don’t see going 24v in the near future..
The 6+ is larger/ heavier. But the pro is “taller”…
Both have good track records,
I am open to any input on one vs the other .. cost difference is only $10…

I use AC only, so I bought the HobbyMate D6 Pro, which seems to be the exact same thing as the Hota 6 Pro.

I love it.

I use mine with Thor parallel boards, so I can technically charge up to 8 flight batteries at once. For me, it puts out plenty of power even on AC. And I love the color changing screen so you can tell what it is doing at a glance. (Purple = Discharging, Yellow=Charging, Green=Done charging and balanced with 0.03v, Blue = Done charging and completely balanced)

Plus if you have a female to female XT60 cord(like you would use for a parallel board), you can also use the charger as a power supply. This way you don't need to worry about a lipo running out while you are flashing ESC/FC or doing stuff on the bench. It can also run off a lipo, and even discharge lipo's into the larger battery it is plugged in to.

I like how well it balances, the power it puts out even on AC, ease of use, easy to read color screen to check what it is doing and the features it has. It also has a good resistance-checker when charging so you can see the internal resistance of each cell.

The 1 thing I DON'T like: it has no ON/OFF switch. You have to pull the A/C plug out the back of it. So I bought one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KFMNJLH?psc...ct_details

It works great. You plug it into wall, and plug charger into it. Then it has a 6ft cord with an On/Off button you can put next to charger. That's how I do it any way.

I think either one would be a great charger to have. But I've not personal experience with the 6+, so I can only talk about the pro.

The Hota 6+ is 300 watts on AC so you can get about 6s 6000mah (150 watts) charge on both channels. If you needed higher than that you can have up to 210 watts (approx 6s 8.4 amps) from AC for one channel. I use the Luminere parallel 4way charging boards on each channel and usually have it set to 5.2 amps on both channels because most of my batts are around 1300mah. Plus I have a couple of 5200 6s for surface vehicles. The bluetooth app for it is junk but I've figured out it's quirks and how to work with it.

I have a Hota D6 (non pro/ non AC version) and it does what I need it to do.

Get the Pro/AC version if you need the convenience.
