Can you remap the motors
#1
Is it possible to rotate the ESC and remap the motors later in iNav, or do you always have to solder each motor to the correct pads with iNav?
I'm considering rotating my ESC, unless of course iNav doesn't support remapping the motors

You can change the motors rotation direction in blheli suite. You can also change the motor rotation defaults in INAV, in case you need to. Defaults are motors 1 and 4 CW, 2 and 3 CCW. You don't need to resolder anything.

Fantastic. This will give me more flexibility

You can't remap motors like in Betaflight. You'll need to recompile the iNav target with the correct motor order. It's a bit of a pain, but not too bad once you figure it out.

The only thing that determines which ESC on a board is for which motor position are the 4 signals that come from the FC to each of the 4 ESCs.

Assuming that you're using a 4-in-1 ESC with a wiring harness between them, you can just rearrange the 4 motor signal wires in the harness plugs to reconfigure which ESC is for Motor 1, 2, 3 and 4. Using that method means that you can orientate the ESC any way you want without having to remap motors or compile custom firmware.

Good point, for some reason I was thinking AIO. That is definitely the way to go if you're using a separate 4 in 1 ESC.

I think Pawel disagree. Isn't this mixer remapping the same?

Edit: I'm space restricted and don't want spaghetti wiring

Also, assuming you wire each motor to the right pad, does it matter how you orient the 4-in-1 ESC or if you flip it side-ways or upside-down?

The ESC doesn't have any sensors in it so can be put in whatever orientation you want. You can then solder the motors to the closest pads. Then you can do one of the following: run the signal wires from FC to ESC to map the correct motors position as SnowLeopard suggests or set up INAV motor mixer as Pawel suggests.

That's great! I tried this on the 2.6 development branch earlier and it didn't work. Glad they got it fixed for the release!
