Camera Plug Wiring
#1
I like the idea of analog camera wire plugs that allow quick change-out of cameras.  Some FC AIOs have receptacles for such plugs.  I think most, if not all of them, are JST 0.8.

The problem is the tower of Babel for the wiring.

The Runcam Nano 3 and Tiny Whoop Pinch cams have left-to-right yellow-red-black as viewed on the pin retainer side.  FC AIO boards with compatible receptacles are the Happy Model X12, F4, DiamondF4, and probably some others.

The BetaFPV CO3 has yellow-black-red from the same viewpoint.  It plugs into the MO3 vtx board, and probably some others.

If I want to use the CO3 camera with a F4 AIO, I have to either solder a new pigtail or pull and re-insert the pins (good luck doing this with JST 0.8--those puppies are TINY).

Why?  Why not standardize this?  Oh, OK, I suppose vendors want to lock customers into their system.  I get that, but come on!!

No, I don't want to have to solder camera wires directly to the board.  That's the whole point of plugs and receptacles.

Has somebody made a big listing of which cameras plug into which AIO boards and vtx boards without modifications?

I do not think we are going to see that kind of standardization in this hobby, just not a big enough crowd but it would be nice if they did.

I have always just rearranged the pins in the connector and its good to go.

As far as the Happymodel X12, I am tempted to solder the wires directly or replace the jack with a pigtail to plug the camera in because the whoops that I am using that fc in, when you plug in the camera, it sticks out so far that the wiring is forced against the frame and I have to notch the frame out so that vibrations from the frame are not being sent directly into the fc...

Its too bad that they could not move the jack farther back on the fc so it did not stick out so far past the edge.

Wow, Brettbrandon, rearranging the pins on a JST 0.8 connector can be done, but at the cost of usually breaking off the plastic fingers just trying to bend them a little with a pin.  Cutting the wires and soldering a new JST 0.8 pigtail with the correct wiring is a solution as well.  Or your solution to solder a JST 0.8 female pigtail to the board works, too.

Yeah, I had to do exactly that with a X12 mounted in a Meteor75 Pro frame.  Dremel to the rescue.  I had to also shave other spots to make clearance for the motor receptacles.  I worry that this has compromised frame integrity.  It flies well, however.

Supposedly the F4 2G4 is a tad smaller and will not require such trimming.  I will find out next week when mine arrives.  If it doesn't fit there are always the AIO FCs from HGLRC (both Zeuss 1S 5A and Specter 2S 10A), which are billed as fitting into 65mm frames.  Maybe so since they have curved-in sides.

I have a pair of tiny fingernail scissors that have a very small tip and I use one of the blades to raise the plastic tab and haven't broken one yet (knock on wood)...

I'd say that the best way to go about this is to put a pigtail on your flight controller(s), and then standardize everything yourself with a matching connector. Sure, it takes a little bit of fiddling at the start, but it saves the hassle of doing it later. I personally got fed up with dealing with all the random plugs that didn't fit all over the place, and even more so the wire crimping. Solder fits everywhere!

Yup, I like that solution. However, I can't find any female JST 0.8 pigtails anywhere. Not Amazon, not Ebay, not any of the usual vendors. Male yes, female no.

Does anybody have a source for these?
