Buck Converters

I'm in the process of making a Halogen bulb battery discharger and I'm going to put a 12v fan connected directly to the input battery to cool the bulbs. I'm going to be discharging 4s and 6s lipos and i'm wondering if i set the buck converter to output 12v when a 4s battery is connected, will is output the same when a 6s battery is connected, or does the output voltage depend on the input? I've got some around which'll save me buying a dedicated 12v step down board.

I've used several buck converters in my DIY projects but i don't really know how their circuitry compares to a standard step down converter.

I am pretty sure if you have an adjustable BEC (adjustment through POT), then you will find that the output voltage is dependent on what you supply it. Easy to just test it with DMM.

Thats what i was thinking but i was hoping to be told otherwise. I'll give it a go shortly

Why not buy a 16V bulb? But I would check the output voltage with 6S. I can't imagine it to be more than 14-16v.

I'm actually using 3x24v 100w halogen bulbs for discharging and wired them in parallel to positive and that combined with the discharge+ mode on my old turnigy reactor will let me control discharge and balance the packs.

I made a solder fume extractor a while ago and got a 5 pack CPU cooling fans, i used 4 and had one left which is 12v. 

For the moment i've left it out and i'll just use the solder fume extractor without the filter and turn it around so it blows on the bulbs.

Taped down the bulb holders to epoxy them tommorow

Very cool, not pun intended. Maybe you can hook up two BECs on a switch for 4S or 6S.
