Better than hand launch?
#1
Is a vertical launch a good idea, yes or no?  Looks like he has different wing tips to allow it to stand up for a vertical launch.  Seems to be better than a hand launch.  Easier and safer.

I wonder if it cuts into your flight time.  Getting the wing moving from a standstill as opposed to providing the initial inertia via a hand launch. Huh Probably not much if it does.

Puppy is like, "WTF bia!!!"

I will be trying it soon enough as I am thinking about the wing again. I am going to set it up as basic as possible, 30a ESC with BEC...super simple PWM RX and a 2206-2400kv motor. Should have surplus to do a vertical takeoff...really does seem like a safer launch.

Yeah, it looks like a solid launch method to this rookie.  And you could launch it yourself with goggles on, sitting in a lawn chair, my preferred style of flying.  I was liking the bungee launch, but I think I like this method better.

Having experienced the "ballistic launch" that can sometimes happen, might be safer to sit in the car...just sayin'! Big Grin

It must need such high thrust to weight ratio in other to do that Big Grin
The motor/prop combo i am using on the S800 (Cobra 2204 1960KV with 6045 prop) barely takes off with hand launch if I don't give it 100% throttle Big Grin

That's the iFlight wing, they're only developing it at this point it seems. From their FB page, the specs of the wing on the video are:

Wingspan: 850mm
Motor: 2207
Prop: 5061
ESC: 50A ESC
Servos: 9 grams
Battery: Fullsend 1800mah 4s
Session camera (I guess)
