Betaflight 2.3.0 - new feature insane_acro_factor !!!
#1
Exclamation
Betaflight 2.3.0 RC1 released:
-new filtering for smoother D term
-new feature insane_acro_factor, which is like Acro+ on Openpilot. I very welcome this feature! (only works with airmode on)

What do you guys think?
Copying from FB Group:

BorisB: "Added new feature set insane_acro_factor= 0-100 (0 means disabled and 100 is maximum). This is simillar to Acro+ feature, but it only works when in Air mode. This is to prevent many modes. The option will improve center stick feeling more and add more "super expo" on more stick reflection"

Basically you can set relatively low rates to fine control around midstick and also have very quick reaction at full stick, soft flying but insane fast flips and rolls.

Another experimental feature is that the FC can compensate for camera tilt angle and command the motor so that the roll stick will give you pure roll and yaw pure yaw etc.

when flying in a 30degree angle and you yaw. it will keep the horizon level. This was a feature request of someone and Boris made it real. Personally I won't activate this, i like to be in control.

I loved Acro+ on OP, so will load this code on my Tweaker.

You know open pilot lives via librepilot. People should suport these guys.

Hmmm, as much as I love the idea, it feels like a crutch for someone who hasn't developed the fundamentals.  I suppose I shouldn't knock it until I try it. can't wait!  =P

I really like the fc angle adjustment, I've been using it for a while now before the 2.3 release. Once you get used to the landing and take-off, it's actually quite normal. There's only minor adjustment to make with not having to counter the angle of the quad in flight but once your used to it, the flying becomes much smoother. The major benefit of this is the wash-out effect is gone now, as others have described - when your yawing while the quad is at 50 degree plus angles, the motors hit their limits of control while trying to yaw or turn thus creating the wash-out effect. This isn't noticeable for most flyers who like to do nice smooth flying but when doing hard maneuvering like fast angled turns with yawed elevation changes then it can become noticeable that 1 motor will "kick-out". The motors range of control never hits their limits when it doesn't have to counter the angle of the quad in fff maneuvering around obstacles at full speed. Its an option available to all now so I suggest trying it out for a few packs to see if its something that you will benefit from. It's definitely not for everyone but theoretically should be the most effective.
If it isn't broke, fix it anyways!

Insane mode:
For people want to try and tune it I suggest to lower your RC Rate first, also don't think it is good for low attitude racing as if it will flip/roll suddenly when pass your stick at certain point.

I manage to kill my frame by that it flip 180 degree as unexpected and I full throttle to the ground and it was too late lol.

Here is my video:

Other than that I haven't try the new camera tilt thing yet as I love to do yaw/roll together on my own, the new filter works great my previous pid tune become too high but I felt even more responsive and lock in, was once just off hand my pitch/roll stick and it hover in the wind like GPS hold.
