Best VTx ?

Of course it can work in ideal circumstances but ... 10 miles out on 5.8 makes a cool test video for YouTube but for anywhere other than a barren desert or prairie is reckless putting it politely. There's a lot of people on Facebook doing some pretty funny things these days apparently... Again, my opinion and not just mine by far. One is likely going to have to exceed height restrictions in most places to maintain flyable signal at less than half that distance on 5.8 with terrain changes, obstacles, noise floors, etc. with a maxx-ed VTx? Yeah, sounds responsible... I think many people overlook the fact that the more "wattage" their VTx purports to pump-out, the more "wattage" in heat loss they'll get and not necessarily RF radiating from the antenna.

I also think it's worthy of mention that for any new people that want to put a cranked VTx on their machine just because they can, and think that's perfectly normal, we should probably encourage them to take a "HAM" course so they have some idea of what they're doing? Rather than send one more person out into the world to perhaps further degrade the quality of the hobby and perhaps usher-in more regulation? Yeah, crazy idea I know but at least I try...

One minute people are all hot and bothered about government and regulation and their hobby being oppressed and then we send-out new guys with cranked VTx's who don't need any education and who think they can go out 10 miles if the battery is up for it...

I'm glad you find humor in this and ignorance is that blissful for you. I honestly don't know what is funny with my post. You think I want to be on here lecturing the "resident long-range authority" about basic responsibility? Now we're outright telling people not to pay attention to Alphabet Agency law and regulation and just do whatever they want are we? What a few wingnuts do in the middle of the desert rarely translates well to other places.

This isn't about you or me or even the OP. If that's the kind of advise an "authority" gives on here, I trust Oscar and the other elders think it's a laughing matter too because it makes their forum look like a laughing matter.

When people on the forum get all dejected and pissed-off with the government treating everything like a nail again they can look to people like you advising people on a public forum to be ignorant too and not to give toss about the greater hobby and it's future.

Pardon me for landing in the wrong place evidently. Good luck to all and laugh it up on me! Sorry if anyone takes offense, I'm a little offended myself.
