Annoying issue on BetaFlight OSD
#1
Ok I am still a beginner and I have an annoying issue. So I guess this is as good a forum to post the question.

It is happening on two of my quads.

1) A Flywoo Fly Lens 85 with Walksnail. Flying with GNB 850 2S HV pack.
2) A scratch build 75mm with a Meteor 75 Air frame. Sub250 RedFox A1 AIO flight controller (The actual target for this flight controller is really a GEPRCF411SX1280). I am using some 0802 21500kV motors from Tiny Whoops. Flying with 1S BetaFPV 550 Lava HV pack.

On both quad batteries are full charge. The total battery voltage on the Fly Lens showed something like 8.5V. However the average single cell voltage showed 2.5V and I get a low battery land NOW warning. I had ti unplug a few times and eventually it will go away. I can also fly with the warning and the quad flew fine. I asked Flywoo and they said it is software. So I reloaded firmware and saved OSD page a few times and it finally went away or so I hoped.

Then on this 75 mm build using only 1 cell I am again getting this dumb low battery land now warning when I plug in the battery and put on the goggles. I unplug and re-plug and it went away.

So my question is can I get rid of the warning? Is there some place I had forgotten to click? A voltage that I have set wrong? Or is it a bug in BetaFlight 4.4.X?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ok I like to post pictures. This one is called Snow White 75. I am using a CaddX Ant Lite 16:9 format camera. The camera is pretty nice. It is a pain to change the display on my goggles every time I fly this quad but the picture quality makes it worth while to change.

I had that same problem about a week ago. On the "Power" tab in Betaflight, make sure the max cell voltage is set to 4.35v. Mine was at 4.30 and when I changed it, it went away. It has to do with the HV packs. Thanks @ph2t for helping me with that.

Hi SeismiCWave,

The sensor ranges for each FC would be set in the Power & Battery Tab.  Pay mind to the "Capacity" field and set it to your most likely battery size. The consumption rates are plotted through this figure.  You can tell if the current ADC (onboard) needs attention if your dis-arm statistics for "Mah used" is not sensible, but most targets get pretty close.

The warning OSD thresholds are on the right-hand column in the "OSD" tab,  There are warnings and alerts you can customize. Including silencing/hiding them altogether.

Give it a try

Just increase your maximum cell voltage, by default it does not consider HV packs. The FC can only read the total battery voltage, BF will use the max voltage to figure out how many cells you are running and divide out per cell voltage accordingly.

Thank you all. Yes, my max battery voltage is at 4.30V right now. I will increase that to 4.35V.

Regarding current. I have been reading Oscar's webpage. So I checked the mah used reported from the OSD when I disarm after a flight and compare that to the actual mah put back into the battery from my charger. Then I create the ratio and change the scale on the battery and power page. Now I am within a few mah after a flight which is really nice.

Edit:

I just checked and changed the maximum battery voltage on the 75mm quad to 4.35. Let's see if the problem goes away.

Then I put the Fly Lens 85 on the computer to see what I did. For some reason I never knew changing max battery voltage number was a work around. However I was dumb enough to click and do different things just for experience. The issue with the warning on the Fly Lens 85 went away and I attributed it to reloading firmware. Then when I checked the battery and power page I noticed I set the max battery voltage to 4.4V. So may be that was the reason the issue went away.

That is something really good to learn and know.

Edit #2:

Yes it worked on the 75mm quad also. I just had a test flight and no issue plugging in the battery and no warning.

I am glad I asked I was getting ready to re-solder my power cable to the flight controller thinking that it was a hardware issue.

I was just thinking about that. Most of the posters are at different level of experience and share.

Virtually every problem that I have had, has been solved here. It is a great group of people who have no problem going out of their way to help with nothing more than the satisfaction of knowing that they helped someone... Out of all the forums I was following, this is the only one that I still use and check daily. Sometimes with my little experience, I can help someone else...

Yes, give and take is what the online forum is all about. That's how it was in the old days. I made friends with members on the forum. Then once in a while we get together in person. It was a lot of fun.

The first time we got together in Florida at an RC show. The second time we got together at a venue in Tennessee and flew electric helicopters together for a week. Then the texture changed and many forums became a relatively hostile place.
