Alternate way to keep coax cable secure in Vista?
#1
I had a bad crash last weekend and it not only ripped the coax out of my camera, but it also ripped the cable out of the vista, with that screw-in clamp still in place. I guess in ripping it out of the vista, it broke off the front part of the black connector plug the wire clamps into...if any of this makes any sense.

So if I plug the cable back in and screw in that clamp, the cable will just slide out of the vista now. Would hot glue damage anything? I'd hate to scrap a perfectly good Vista.

No, hot glue won't damage anything but this is a Vista we are talking about here, which gets HOT. And when hot glue gets hot.....well Whistling

You would probably be better off using the same type of compound that is used to hold U.FL antenna connectors in place. I haven't personally used any but try searching for "antenna glue".

Good point with the heat. I found neutral cure silicone - will look more into that. Thank you, Snow!

Just make sure whatever you use secures the cable on really well so it's not going to go anywhere. The last thing you want is the cable vibrating loose and then popping off mid-flight Doh

That's what worries me.

I see Bardwell recommends E6000 adhesive, I may try that.  One thing is for sure - from now on I'm only using coax cables with PLENTY of slack.

Yep, that will probably work. You might not get it apart again though  Whistling The sole came off one of my boots last year Dodgy I used E6000 to bond it back together and it's like the sole is now actually welded on Big Grin

Cyclonefpv shows a repair on a Caddx vista antenna.I don’t know if it’s the same thing your needing repaired.
He has done several different repairs on the ufl in Caddx and it looks like he is doing another live at this moment.

That's the u.fl connector - I've replaced plenty of those but thanks Smile

What I'm referring to is what the camera cable plugs into - I saw Snow once referred to it as the MIPI connector...?
