TL : DR ... It's my birthday. My quad got on fire.
I was gifted an AirBlade UAV Intrepid V2 3" Pro frame from a very cool RCG seller making up for a botched sale. Far be it for me to defy fate and let this fine frame go unflown lol. That and coinciding with my birthday ... well, it was meant to be!
If you've been following my build threads, you'll know I pretty much stick to the exact. same. parts. So I won't go into too much detail on this build log. You'll also know that I've been going nuts on the Tarsier 4K so this dual stack frame is perfect. It is slightly bigger than my Gecko with 150mm MTM and noticeable smaller than my Acrobrat. This would be my perfect in between!
The frame has detachable arms secured to the front and rear M3 spacers. [Insert doom foreshadowing music here ...] An M2 screw secures the middle. (I cut my mounting screws to height.)
... oh that damn M2 screw lol ...
Since I am using the exact same components from my prior builds, I'll spare you the details. I would note though that despite being longer than the Gecko, components are a tight fight. A bit more spacing between the stacks would've gone a long way.
You can see the connector cables bunched up in the middle. The Tarsier cable was not long enough to be flipped around. What would have been helpful was if the FC cables were oriented differently or used pins. It fit, but it's a very tight fit.
I went with some blinged out hardware ...
I designed some TPU parts to hold up the VTX antenna and secure the lipo cable at the same time. Also made some covers for the rear of the camera plates where the sharp carbon fiber edges would otherwise rub uncomfortably against the lipo. If you want these STL files, just let me know.
Bazinga!!!! LOLLLL
I did maiden it this morning and I was very concerned that some very slight play the way the camera cage hooks into the frame would cause jello. Well I gotta say the footage was as solid as any of my other builds and this thing is really fun to fly. As I would've guessed, it feels something in between to the Gecko and Acrobrat ...
... That video actually cut out from a crash. A crash that would end up resulting in a completely charred FC stack ...
