0 So i wanna build a 75mm open props freestyler. For that i chose the rcinpower 1002 22000kv motors on gf 1607-3 props. For the fc i first thought about the betafpv f4 1s but since it can only output max 6 amps i can not use it with these motors. Then i thought about the hm x12 aio, which could output enough amps, but it lacks the feature of blackbox logging. Do i need blackboxlogging? And if yes which aio would you recommend me?
I would be happy about every oppinion

BetaFPV AT32 F4 12A AIO. Pretty much the same specs as above and no OSD.
Those are both in the £30-45 range, but are really ideally only suited to digital builds.
I wouldn't bother with blackbox. I'd just get a cheapish 12A F411 in a whoop mount pattern. Don't overthink it. But remember those motors will need 8-10A of power depending on the props you use.

121 05-Aug-2023, 07:17 PM (This post was last modified: 05-Aug-2023, 07:19 PM by Lemonyleprosy.) Blackbox can be helpful if you’re planning on tuning, but it’s not necessary.
As far as aio’s without blackbox, I’m a pretty big fan of the DarwinFPV f411 15A 1-3s aio. I don’t know what rc link you use, but the version with ELRS is spi based, so be aware of that if it’s a dealbreaker for you.
What frame are you using? A few of my 1.6” (40mm) and 2” (85mm) open prop frames only fit 16x16 or 20x20, not the standard whoop 25.5x25.5. The ones that fit 20x20 can fit 25.5x25.5 with an adapter, but the 16x16 ones don’t have enough prop clearance to do the same.
Edit- I don’t have any experience with the HM x12’s, but, the various YouTube streamers I watch don’t seem to have good things to say about their durability.

0 The frame i planned to use is a 75mm aliexpress frame. Prittey simmilar to the baby nazgul one. So yes it hat 25,5 and 26,5 mounting holes.
And just to be shure, isnt tuning something you should always do to get a good flying quad. Or does it just make really minor differences?

121 05-Aug-2023, 11:03 PM (This post was last modified: 05-Aug-2023, 11:05 PM by Lemonyleprosy.) There are some pretty good betaflight presets these days, and tuning by ear and feel can be done without a blackbox.
I’m far from an expert in tuning. I’ve been using defaults or presets with minor adjustments for the last couple years. I just tried doing my first proper tune last week, and yeah, it flies better than anything else I’ve built- but I did it by ear and feel because the board doesn’t have a blackbox or a free uart to install an OpenLager.
My point is, blackbox isn’t necessary. Might be nice to have though. If you don’t know if you need it, you probably don’t.

18 Heck, if you really want to blackbox tune, get a serial based one, tune, and take it back off when you're done.
