It actually is a lot of fun.

As I've mentioned before, I have 10% vision but have a lifelong love for flight and always wanted to be a pilot.

I've been building flying things for as long as I can remember. I used model rockets to carry gliders in the 70s. In the late 80s, I was building free flight planes using pager motors and powered by flat Polaroid camera batteries (I even found a way to recharge them!).

But radio control was out of my reach until about a decade ago when LiPo batteries and light electronics got RC planes small enough to stay within my range of vision. Last year, I discovered that FPV gear was light enough to fly on a 50 gram toy RC plane I had... so I set about making my dream of being a pilot come true!

Turns out flying FPV is far easier than flying line o' site ever was for me!

So that's my story.

I think this brings something new to the FPV realm as well. I decked out the cockpit to give me that visceral experience of being the pilot I so dreamed of becoming. I didn't want to fly like Superman with a clear field of view, I wanted to fly a plane like a pilot!

There might be some interesting possibilities here, like drone racing but flying these electric micro scaled planes. Or maybe air combat with tuned lasers that shut down a plane's engines when detected.

I have a new 3 channel plane coming soon so I'll post a build log converting it to FPV when it does.

I joined this forum in the first place after reading and learning a lot  from your wonderful website and secondly, I think I've learned enough to ask good questions.

Can you recommend a good micro VTX with a microphone? I can easily get an Oscar's Backpack but understand there's issues between you and its manufacturer. If it ends up being my only good choice, can I make a donation to you as well in lieu of royalties?
