130mm Shrieker
#1
Just built up a 130mm Shendrones Shrieker from a mixture of stuff I had lying about and others. Gotta say this was was one of the most fiddly builds i've ever attempted, a lot of very small solder joints - there is a lot to be said for plug n play 20x20 stacks.
Specs:
- Frame - Shendrones Shrieker 130mm ($35 from Andy Shen) top bottom plate spacers reduced from 35mm to 25mm
- Motors RotorX 1306 4100Kv ($50 on sale at TBS)
- ESC Speedix 20A BL Heli S 4 in 1 - 20x20 ($25 banggood)
- FC - Matek 411 mini 20x20 ($20 banggood)
- Rx RXSR - spares box
- VTX, TBS Unify Race MMCX - spares box
- FPV Cam - Runcam Microswift 3 ($40 Banggood)
- VTx antenna - True RC MMCX ($15 - Dronematters)

AUW - with an 1100Mah 3S or 850mah 4s is 240g to 245g - I am looking for some smaller batteries, shoud be able to get it sub 200g or somewhere close

Taken out for a couple of test crashes already - it flies more like a 5" mini quad rather than a micro which was the whole point - the crashes were all pilot error, as usual. Crashing doesn't seem to break stuff in the same way it does with 5 and 6" - however highly susceptible to even a minor breeze.
- RXSR running FPORT on UART 1 with inversion hack
- Cam control on UART 2
- TBS Smart Audio soft serial
- DSHOT 600
- Stock betaflight 3.5 PID's for the time being, not got round to playing with Rates / PID's yet - fly's very good stock on both 3S and 4s

Various photos showing the build - last photo shows it next to my QAVX - a small 5" for some perspective on how small it is

Awww, that's adorable!

Completely off-topic, but are those S3 props on your 5"? If so, how are you finding them?

Only put a couple of packs through on the S3's but so far so good. I have had that old QAVX a few years and its pretty much my test rig, motors are Emax RS2205s 2300kv, just bought a couple of pairs of S3's to try 'em out. I normally run Cyclone 5045, 5x4.5x3 V3 or 5x4Xx3 V1S.
The S3s spin up very quick and are very responsive low / mid throttle range but the quad felt under propped at the top end. First time I flew them was in a big open field and I was a little underwhelmed, pulling out of a dive at full throttle I very nearly planted the quad, but they are not really designed for power stuff. we also have rainforest / jungle type flying sites, they were great for following a tight MTB single track through the woods. with the steeper pitch props i quickly deflect the sticks across then move them back more slowly - these seemed much more flowy, similar movement out and back on the sticks, very smooth, reckon they'll be great with a gopro. I need to put some more packs through though, that won't be for a wile though - off to NZ south island tomorrow for a months mountain climbing.

I run 4.3 V1S at the moment so I was curious how other people are finding them. I first assumed the 3.1 pitch was a typo but while they're never going to be racing props it seems like they have enough grunt to get by for freestyle, although the low weight is obviously suited to Steele's snappiness. I might buy a set and give them a shot.

Thanks for the info and letting me hijack your thread!

Love how snug the frame looks and I bet it is super fun to fly!

For the 3" props, which ones have you tried so far?

OMG, no one told me it would be this much fun!  Addicted :)
