0 A friend of mine has a 13 year old grandson looking to get started in flying drones. I fly a couple of Aramattan relics but am not familiar with the the entire field of quadcopters. I believe most recommendations for new pilots at that age is to go with something small perhaps with guards on the props. He also would need a transmitter. If you have a recommended package we would be grateful if you shared your knowledge and opinion.
Thanks,
Bob

20 … my wife is a middle school teacher.. she uses Tinyhawks in her classroom .. Emax offers a pro pilot package, goggles, controller, quad.. it’s not the greatest set up.. but it’s a good place to start.. it comes as “set up” as any fpv system can.. it’s a 1s (batteries) cheap easy, and won’t break the bank.. $250 I think..
If he has DEEP pockets I would still start here.. fpv is not a cheap hobby.. but I can speak from experience.. this kit will take abuse, and you may need repairs .. but they are reasonable compared to a 5” digital setup

41 So you can get a similar Cetus kit for $230 from GetFPV. The Cetus Pro kit. It is similar to the kit that Rob highlighted, it isn't the best stuff ever, but it comes with everything you need, ie, Brushless drone, goggles, radio, 2x 1S batteries and a charger. My nephew flies pretty much exactly the same as that kit, same goggles, batteries, charger and radio, but I rebuilt the drone myself from a broken one. Still tons of cheap fun. The Cetus can do the same stuff as the others.
Another possibility in the same price range would be the GEPRC Tinygo Kit.
