18650 2s pack (Sony vtc6) to drive slash 4x4 vxl
#1
have a custom 2s and 3s pack made out of Sony vtc6 18650 cells.
These cells (original) are believed to be continuous discharge up to 20A.

I attempted these packs on my slash 4x4 vxl (stock motor and ESC) on flat concrete surface and it ran fine.
I monitored battery and lead wire temperature. It was ok.

Any one else tried this? Any risks involved?

i readed the title, i liked to tell it wont work xD
as i know rc cars have more but for a short time high current draw. i had a vxl aswell. i beleive it would make sense to settup the 50% throttle limit to save the cells befor damage.

It definitely worked for me.
I did not adjust throttle.
May be speed was bit less than normal lipo. But not dead slow.

I wanted take opinion of others on the risk involved (damaging battery, ESC, fire etc)

If you want more piece of mind, you might go with a higher drain battery (at the expense of capacity), like the Sony VTC5A or the Molicel P26A. (I am building some 2S2P and some 3S1P packs for a couple of quads using the VTC5A.)

Yeah, 20amps is pretty low for a 4wd 10th scale, they can pull quite a bit more than that. I'd definitely keep an eye on the batteries.

Thank you all.

So basically if ESC try to pull more than the battery could provide then battery get heated and then fire?
Or ESC will simply shutdown/restart when it could not get enough?
