I would like to buy my first RC plane but I think the flying between quads and planes is very different. I think the most popular one for flying LOS would be RealFlight. It's about 100 bucks to purchase. https://www.realflight.com/index.php There is also ClearView which is about 40 bucks. There is a free demo version to check out. http://rcflightsim.com/ • Posts: 17 Threads: 2 Likes Received: 2 in 2 posts Likes Given: 2 Joined: Jul 2020 Reputation: 0 I have velocidrone, fpv2air, but tried lifoff dlc and rotorrush... The best for long for me was rotorrush...a lot of time without ear about it...and nobody says nothing about it here... it´s really expensive. but i haven´t see nothing like it... Maybe it´s outdate..i don´t know... I use Velocidrone normally it´s a good realistics when you configure for it... and betaflight configuration it´s cool , maybe can be more actualized with news betaflights releases... a lot and lot and lot of circuits... fpv2air had a very good dinamics but it´s a little game compared with others simulators...but really good dinamics... Nobody tries the GTA5 pach for drone simulator?well like simulator isn´t nothing memorable...but it´s a pleasure flight around these gigant escenario... This is kind of annoying since IRL longer throttle push than 4-5 seconds in my case is already "BATTERY LOW" warning and sagging a bit. It would add so much realism to the simulator, does Velocidrone has some, or they are all the same? Also tuning the quad seems to have so little effect when playing with PIDs.. And there are no propwash in Lift Off. Would be nice to try and get rid of propwash in sim, learn to move more smoothly to avoid propwash etc. • Posts: 8 Threads: 2 Likes Received: 2 in 1 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Jul 2020 Velocidrone is the most realistic feeling sim and has the best maps. I tried everything else extensively. liftoff has the worst physics and maps. The devs can’t get the physics right in liftoff. Velocidrone is universally considered the best sim in fpv. Velocidrone has “worst graphics”, this statement is not true. Graphics are as good as liftoffs, for example, Compare the House level in Velocidorne to any map in liftoff and velocidrone looks better. I won’t bother with any other sim. Velocidrone teaches you proximity flight better than liftoff. Try flying a 5” quad inside the house map in velocidrone and you will learn better throttle resolution than anywhere else. I try to fly as low as possible and go forward to bump beach ball but it seems like any added throttle makes quad climb even pushing down or forward my quad climbs. Is there a way to go forward at higher speeds without climbing? • Posts: 1,843 Threads: 203 Likes Received: 346 in 264 posts Likes Given: 306 Joined: May 2020 Reputation: 11 (13-Aug-2020, 05:21 AM)Rob3ddd Wrote: I’ve been using CK FPV sim but just learning the options. CK Sim definitely has improved my skills in just a few hours. • Posts: 29 Threads: 5 Likes Received: 11 in 8 posts Likes Given: 14 Joined: Mar 2020 Reputation: 0 I learned all of my freestyle quad flying skills with simulators. Logged in hours and hours before I tried it out for real. Made all the difference in the world. As far as chasing those darn beach balls around, I can't get the hang of it either. All I can tell you is practice, practice, practice. And while you are at it... have fun too. • Posts: 1,312 Threads: 50 Likes Received: 832 in 504 posts Likes Given: 372 Joined: Jul 2018 Reputation: 51 (13-Aug-2020, 05:21 AM)Rob3ddd Wrote: I’ve been using CK FPV sim but just learning the options. Is there a way to go forward at higher speeds without climbing? You're on the right idea by pitching forward. The thing is that the amount of downward force required to keep your quad at the exact same altitude is a constant. Which means you've got a specific throttle value to keep you level for every forward angle. If you're climbing but want to give it more beans, you need to pitch further forward. Have you tried increasing your camera angle? That allows you to lean into the throttle much harder without leaving you looking at the floor. The ground is for dead people. Their learning tutorials were great, a lot better than Liftoff's, IMHO. • Posts: 6,113 Threads: 172 Likes Received: 2,286 in 1,833 posts Likes Given: 4,737 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 100 settup your cam angle to the speedlevel you like to fly/accrelate. wide fov can give the ability to fly different speedlevels still a good view where you go. I also have DRL, Freerider, Liftoff, but not DCL (yet) and the three I listed are the only ones I would consider to be legit simulators. Not just some marketing thing. • Posts: 858 Threads: 108 Likes Received: 106 in 83 posts Likes Given: 344 Joined: Nov 2019 Reputation: 3 I started off with FPV Freerider about a year ago and while it was good to start with, once I tried Velocidrone I never touched Freerider again. My PC at the time was 8 years old and could only run Velocidrone at all the lowest settings, but it felt pretty accurate, albeit a tad floaty. The editor in Velocidrone is wonderful, and I built my usual flying spot in it so that in these snowy winter months, I can still practice there : If I want to learn a trick, I can build a structure that's optimal for me to learn the trick. Once you get the hang of the editor it's actually super awesome. Last week I upgraded and got a mid-range gaming PC - so I purchased Liftoff and DRL. Liftoff is BEAUTIFUL, but the physics just seem a little off to me. However, when I pull off tricks they seem to look better/more accurate in Liftoff - not sure if the motion blur is just right or what. I need to tinker with DRL as I've just downloaded it today - but I really enjoy the real parts (which I know Liftoff has) and the customization detail with regards to drag, weight etc. - I made a quad very close to my CL1 build and I have to say it flies pretty darn close - better than Liftoff. I need to spend more time with DRL but I wish these sims would have a proper bando - Velocidrone's bandos are super cramped and don't feel quite right. Maybe I just need to build one in Velocidrone's editor... I recently discovered “Flowstate”, it’s free on Steam, it’s geared towards racing, but u can still practice if ur learning.
