VTX+ELRS Placement
#1
I'm working on my first build.  I have this ELRS receiver and this VTX...but I'm unsure of the best place to put them.

The VTX doesn't fit into the 3d printed antenna hole, so I figured I would have it dangle out the back above the blue piece, and feed the 2 ELRS antennas through the hole instead.

But as far as where to actually place the components...

My initial thoughts were to put the ELRS on the bottom and the VTX on top.  Pretty sure I'll need to be able to press the button on the VTX.  But then it looks like I'll need to use that area for battery straps, and I don't think battery straps on a VTX seem like a good idea.  My next thoughts were to put the ELRS on the bottom, and the VTX on top of that, but having them on top of each other also seems like a bad idea.  Would it be feasible to put them both on the bottom, but with some kind of spacer like having the ELRS wrapped in kapton with adhesive foam tape and the VTX on top?

Will the VTX fit in that section at the back which the red arrow is pointing at if you tilt it diagonally at an angle?

What VTX is it (make/model)?

Snows suggestion is probably the best. It looks like a rather long VTX. If it was like TBS Unify or something 20x20 mount, it might have fitted fairly easily in that back section. You might want to change the VTX to something in a nano format, Foxeer Reaper Nano, maybe a TBS Unify or something else that is pretty small, but still reasonably powerful. Failing that and if you must use the one you have, could you get or create (if you have a 3D printer) a hard plastic cover/box that you could place the VTX in, that would allow the strap to go over it without crushing it, something made of a harder plastic?

The ELRS isn't relevant. You could probably put that under the camera at the front (or glue/velcro it above it) and put the dipole on one of the front arms or between the two front arms. The only real problem is the VTX.

It's:
RadioMaster RP3 ExpressLRS 2.4GHz ELRS Nano
and
TBS UNIFY PRO 5G8 HV RACE (SMA) VTX

The VTX does fit in the back at an angle, but it also fits just sitting flat.  I was probably over thinking and under thinking it at the same time.  I think ELRS in the front by the camera and VTX in the back will probably work fine.

Thanks!

That sounds like a plan. You always want the components inside the frame for crash protection reasons.

You could also potentially put the RadioMaster RP3 receiver on top of the VTX. Just make sure it is properly heat-shrink wrapped to avoid any short circuits and make sure you twist the wires coming from it to the FC. Then use some double-sided foam tape (or VHB tape) to hold it in place on top of the VTX with a zip tie wrapped around the RP3 and VTX / frame to keep it secure and stop it being flung off in a crash.
