F4 1S 5A AIO FC ELRS Current Draw in OSD
#1
There seems to be disagreement about whether the F4 1S 5A AIO FC ELRS (serial Rx) flight controller has a ADC current sensor or not.

My Meteor65 Pro 2022 ELRS and Meteor75 Pro ELRS display as much as 11 amps in the OSD, even before I have armed.  That can't be right.

People have recommended setting the current scale to 1175 instead of 179.  Offset at zero.   I don't know whether this matters if there is no ADC current sensor.

So, folks, what is it?  Does this FC have a ADC current sensor?  Or not?

If yes it does, what settings in BF work for you for these Meteors?

(By the way, the battery voltage in the OSD seems to be working fine.  It's the current that's the bugaboo.)

No, I don't think any of the BetaFPV 5A Serial ELRS FCs have current sensors. You can tell by looking for a shunt resistor near the battery pads:

So I have a couple of the old V2.0 5A boards from BetaFPV and mine do show current.  I'm wondering if it's an approximation or is the component I highlighted the shunt?  I don't know.  I know the 12A AIO's do, as V-22's post shows, but I don't know for the 5A and especially not for the newer ones.

That component you circled looks like a cap. I checked on my board and it shows constant 12A so I don't believe there is one, unless somehow they mapped the ADC to the wrong pin which seems unlikely.

I don't see any current shunt.

Current can also be measured using Hall Effect sensor chips rather than shunt resistors, but I don't see anything obvious on either side of the BetaFPV FC posted by Pathfinder that look like one of the Hall Effect IC's.

So, in order to avoid the frustration of a false reading of battery current draw, I just removed the battery current draw item from the OSD for the Meteor6 Pro 2022 and Meteor7 Pro.  I am keeping the battery voltage since that is useful and seems to be accurate.

All my other whoops display current just fine.
