Cinelog20 just hovers after crash
#1
Hello, New here and to FPV.
Question: I have a Cinelog20 O3, crashed it a few times, broke prop guards and props. No problem, just change them out. Last crash a little different. Now the drone at full throttle just hovers about 2 inches and then scoots to the left.
All props spinning. Thinking the ESC or FC is damaged? Betaflight looks ok. Any ideas or suggestions of what could be the issue?

Thanks!

Ran the Betaflight Motor tests and it turns out that one of the motors has a much higher vibration than the others, like 5 or 6x. Ordered some motors and will test swapping out the bad motor.

Swapped out the motor. Having motor direction issues. Should be props out and I have the motor I replaced props out but I have another motor that is spinning the wrong way. Props in. Betaflight lets me change the direction when I test the single motor but it does not stay when I test all motors together. After Betaflight I tried arming with the props off and the motors appear to be going the right direction. Put the props back on and tried to arm and it immediately disarms. No throttle. Ideas on what is going on?

Change direction in ESC Configurator, not Betaflight. Betaflight doesn't always work or stick.

Are you in turtle mode when you arm?

Agree.  Use ESC Configurator to change motor direction.  Remember to save the configuration before exiting.

Ok. Used ESC Configurator and it says the motors are all normal. Flashed to Bluejay 19.2. Matched the props to another cinelog I have. Quad arms and immediately disarms still. Not in turtle when arming. It will not arm in turtle mode.

Got it to arm now. When I give some throttle to try and lift off it goes up and pulls hard to the right. What would cause that?

right roll or right yaw?

Roll right. Like a car pulling to the right.

I recalibrated a couple times and it appears to be ok now. Will give it a test flight and see.

It starts to lift off gets a couple feet up and is very wobbly and then disarms now. Back in Betaflight it seems to need to be recalibrated, or it is losing the calibration.

Check your frame carefully and make sure it is not cracked or broken somewhere.

It may not be related but last night I converted a Meteor65 Pro to a lighter frame. No change in the electronics except for lighter motors. My lightened quad was falling out of the sky except mine was rolling left and forward and falling.

I posted a thread here asking for help. Finally I decided to check all the screws and after I loosen the left front motor screws and FC screws all is well and I put in a lot of flights since with no issues.

That's just my experience and it may not be yours but at least some leads for you to check.

Seismic you were pretty spot on. The props on these little cinewhoops use 2 screws to hold in the props. In my laziness during my testing I was only using ONE screw per prop. I put in both screws in the props and what a difference. It does not wobble and move in completely random way. Was actually able to take off and land! Thanks!

I think part of the reason is that using one screw may have thrown the balance of the propeller off. Even though it was so close to the hub. The screws are the heaviest part of the prop.
