Can I easily go from OpenTX 2. Version to older versions?
#1
Hello all! I'm trying to get an xm+ running on Betafpv Meteor 75 Pro. Betafpv said I have to run a 1.x version on the XM+ but I have a 2.x version on my Taranis x9d plus radio. Is there any way I can work this out without have to downgrade my TX and all other rx's? Sorry if I'm not wording this correctly. Hopefully y'all get the list of what I'm saying. Thanks!

As you probably already know, ACCST 1.x and ACCST 2.x firmware isn't compatible with each other so both the transmitter and the receiver need to be on the same major ACCST version.

If you've already updated the internal XJT module in your FrSky Taranis X9D+ with the latest ACCST D16 v2.1.0 firmware version and you are already running ACCST V2.x on all of your other FrSky receiver then your best option will be to flash your XM+ with ACCST 2.x firmware. You can download the latest ACCST D16 v2.1.2 firmware for the XM+ from the following link...

Thanks! Yeah Betafpv said the 75 pro fc will only work on 1.x D16 unfortunately. Seems really dumb imo. The range just sucks with the built in rx. I was really hoping to add on an external rx, but I'm not about to downgrade everything for a whoop lol. I'm going to see if it's the same case with an rsxr. I'm sure it is though. Thanks for your help!

BetaFPV are talking nonsense. It sounds to me like they think you are still using the built in FrSky SPI receiver on the FC which is indeed limited to using ACCST 1.x, but if you are using an external XM+ receiver then the FC knows nothing about what version of ACCST is on that receiver and it doesn't care as long as the serial communication data coming into the FC over the SBUS connection from the receiver is understandable, and the SBUS serial communication protocol is exactly the same regardless of whether or not you have ACCST 1.x or ACCST 2.x firmware installed on the external XM+ receiver. The ACCST firmware version only affects the over-the-air communication between the transmitter and the receiver. It has nothing to do with the SBUS communication between the receiver and FC. So you can happily update the XM+ with ACCST 2.x firmware.

Ahhh! Thank you, idk why I didn't think they were thinking that! I guess I gave them too much credit lol. Thx for all of your help.

Have you ever soldered to that FC before? I'm a pretty decent solder-er (not a word, but I'm going with it?), but I'm really struggling with that SBUS pad. I can't get a good joint no matter what amount of heat I use. It's worse than any negative pad on any quad I've ever worked on. I'm using a rosin core 60/40 wire with a Ts100. Any suggestions? Thx again.

I thought you meant you were having issues soldering to the SBUS pad on the XM+ receiver. I don't have one of the BetaFPV F4 1S 5A AIO FC's, so I have no idea how difficult it is to solder to the SBUS pad on that, but SBUS pads aren't connected to the ground plane and is just internally wired directly to an inline hardware inverter on the board of the FC via a small trace, so there shouldn't be anything sucking all the heat away from the pad like there is with GND pads.

Post up some photos of the pad so we can see what kind of condition it is currently in.
