BetaFPV Meteor65 Pro 1S Build
#1
I am still awaiting some parts but decided to build something more for indoors (the addiction continues as 19 quads apparently isn't enough). I have two sets of motors and not sure which will be used. I am going to try both and whichever gets the longest flight time wins...

The only place I could find the flight controller was AliExpress. This is my first time dealing with them and I noticed it was a week before the fc was even shipped. I am still waiting on the fc and the Tiny Whoop 603 motors. Tiny Whoop does not give a weight for the motors so I will weigh one when they arrive.

Here is the parts list.

Frame - BetaFPV Meteor65 Pro - 3.22g
FC - iFlight Blitz F411 1S 5A w/ 25-50mW VTX & ELRS - 4.8g (with power cable, VTX, and VTX antenna)
Motors - weBLEEDfpv Slashers Edition 0702 24500kv - 1.55g ea - 6.2g 4pcs
Motor mounting screws - peek - 0.06g 12 pcs
FC mounting screws - 0.32g 4 pcs
Props - Gemfan 35mm Tri-Blade - .37g ea - 1.48g 4pcs
Camera - Caddx Ant Nano 1200TVL CMOS PAL/NTSC FPV Camera (1.8mm) - 2g
Canopy - HappyModel Crux3 - 0.96g

It is looking like it should come in at just about 20 grams without a battery.
I picked up some of the NewBeeDrone "Nitro Nectar" folded cell 300mAh batteries hoping to get longer flight times. They weigh in at about 8.35 grams each.

Nice Brett, I'm really interested in this build.   Will be nice to see a build with the blitz fc/vtx combo.   If these are the first folded cells you have tried you will be in for a treat, they are seriously way better than anything else in the same stick (200-300mAh) format.  I have the tattus (made sure to buy local as there are fakes aplenty on aliexpress for these batts) and need to get more.  I'm down to my last one and otherwise use gnb380mAh HVs and they last only half the time versus the tattus.

Interested as well on your thoughts for the TW and weebleed motors, our local stores here is Australia never stock them  Dodgy

.. if u want to save yourself some money and headache with these small whoop builds..check out Ciottifpv.. Ahren is pretty much the authority on “testing” these things and their components.. He did the timywhoop info on Bardwell’s “ultimate fpv shopping list”..
A lot of good info there

This is the first "blitz" version of this fc for me. I have two of the previous versions in quads. One I bought and had a problem with and not only did iFlight send me a replacement, they sent me a Baby Nazgul for my troubles... The Nazgul had the same fc in it and I did not like the flight time on it so I pulled all the parts and gave the frame to iFly4rotors. I then used the fc from the Nazgul in a Meteor75 build. Both are still flying fine. This was shot with that Meteor75 with a naked Runcam Thumb Pro on it.

I picked up 8 of the Nitro Nectar 300mAh PH2.0 folded cell, and some of the weBLEEDfpv 450mAh BT2.0 folded cell batteries and yes this is my first experience with them. A few days ago I tried flying the Meteor75 (mentioned above) going back and forth between BetaFPV 450mah and the weBLEEDfpv 450mAh and only got about 15 to 20 seconds longer flight time on the folded cells. What I did notice big time was waaaay less sagging. I am thinking that by the time you get to the larger mAh, you don't find as big of a difference in flight time. I have some RDQ 300mAh and 380mAh PH2.0 batteries to try along with the folded cell batteries with this build to see the difference between them.

I will post how both of the motors compare to each other and in general...

Thanks, about a month ago I watched JB's video with Ciottifpv going over the best choices for whoop builds and have a shortcut for his shopping list saved. I think most of those builds are more powerful than I need as I am a cruiser and not a stunt pilot. Thus why I am still experimenting looking for the best flight time and not power.

I agree. Ciotti seems to recommend super high kV motors for his little whoops. He was talking about over 25,000 kV and maybe even up to 40,000 kV. I think that's more like trying to free style a 65mm whoops and wanting the power.

I like cruising around also so I like lower kV motors myself. Big Grin

I used the inflight blitz elrs on either my first or second build on a 75mm mobula frame with hm 0802 motors, it's still working today. I did have one motor occasionally not start up so I re-flash the FC, but that was where my challenges started. I never got the original fw and I didn't save a dump for reference. I did however get it to work on bf 4.4 elrs v3, but I would have liked to have kept the fw original, so be careful if you have to flash the fc for any reason.

I have built a 65pro using hm 0702 28000kv, betafpv 5a elrs fc and vtx with a runcan nano, weight is 19g. Flight time is 3ish mins on tattu r-line I converted to bt2. I believe that tattu is folded cell. With those batteries, when the low battery flashing in your goggles, land now means land NOW. They don't sag but tank fast after 3.3v

Yes, for 1S builds using 300 mAh batteries, in BF power and battery tab, I have set the warning voltage to 3.3 and minimum to 3.2. This gives me a couple tens of seconds to after "Low Battery", and a few seconds after "Land Now." After landing and disarming, the batteries recover nicely to 3.5-3.6 volts, so no damage done.

I usually set my values to 3.2 for warning voltage, and 3.0 for land now. I fly mostly 75mm and 85mm whoops using 450mAh, 650mAh and up 1S batteries and I have dropped to 2.9 volts and still have them bounce back to 3.5v or better. I haven't flown any 65mm whoops in a few years. I am thinking that I should set my voltages a little higher on the 300mAh batteries going by what you say, as the smaller mAh batteries do not seem to fair as well.

I've just been trying out the betafpv 30000kv 0702s on the 35mm gemfan props.  Given the quad is heavy at 26g(ws on meteor65 pro), I'm getting 2 mins flight time with the tattus on 85% motor scale.

I think the weBLEEDfpv Slashers Edition 0702 24500kv motors will be your best bet for balance of performance versus flight time.   No motor scaling should be needed, even with the load heavy triblades.  At a proposed 20g dry it will be a rocket anyways  Thumbs Up

The Tiny Whoop motors have arrived and I was thinking that the 603's would be lighter than the 702"s but that is not the case.
The 603's are .3 grams heavier than the 702's. That is an extra 1.2 grams for the set with the smaller motors so I am not sure if I will even try them as I don't see any advantage using them.

I am still waiting for the fc from AliExpress. It wasn't shipped until a week after I bought it. It is now days past the guaranteed delivery date so they sent me a coupon code for $1 off my next purchase (wow a whole dollar)... This is my first dealings with them and I am not one willing to wait many weeks for something so I doubt I will ever get to use that dollar.

EDIT
I just noticed that RDQ now has the fc in stock. I could probably order another one and it would get here before the one I ordered weeks ago from Ali...

EDIT2
I went ahead and ordered the fc from RDQ... Lets see which one gets here first.

UPDATE:

I just got an email from AliExpress saying that the shipment has been cancelled...

No information about a refund and when I log into my account, it shows messages from the seller but says that they have to be viewed in the app!

It is sooo hard to find out any information about my order. This is the first and last time I will have anything to do with them.
AliExpress is now first on my "Do Not Buy From" list right above Banggood!

It looks like I may have to make a claim with my credit card to get my money back.

Aliexpress is a shopping platforrm (similar to ebay or other marketplaces), you buy from individual sellers/shops. It is a good idea to check the seller rating before placing the order (many of the FPV manufacturers also sell directly on Ali), but Aliexpress will oversee and help with claims, refunds, discounts, etc.

I've had wrong items shipped, missing items, and lost packages, but all were resolved by contacting the seller (I have only tried sellers with 4.7 or above ratings). Some sellers take a little more back and forth, so you might try contacting them again. If not you can also try getting a refund through Aliexpress.

HobbyFly shop on Ali is about the only one I use, but I did get some stuff from the YSIDO and Eachine shops a while back. I've had no issues with either of those. Also Xintegroup is usually good, but can be cheaper through ebay or directly, depending on the item. Generally issues come if you use say a Russian shop on Ali, since they are sanctioned by pretty much most of the western world, so they can't do business with people from the US (AFAIK). Or if you live in the middle of nowhere, sometimes that will fail shipping.

I purchased from "U-Angel-1988 RC Part Store" and they appear to be in China.

Still awaiting to hear from them....
