Back from Thailand

I wish I had some great footage of the Phi Phi Islands or some such, but alas, the trip was generally not conducive to flying. I really wanted to put the nano baby and thumb cam up in places like this intersection in Bangkok:

But there are cameras, security and police everywhere, and if you were to set down anywhere outside of arms reach the drone is going to get crushed in the perpetual churn of people and traffic... Not to mention it was 104F and much of the city looks like this:

Among other places that might have been cool but I wouldn't dare...

Rooftop bar in Bangkok:

Wat Pho:

Having a beer, sunset on Patong Beach in Phuket:

I did get to fly a couple half-batteries at land recently purchased by my friend's brother and his wife. He's the guy in the red shirt in the vids. (The dark Hawaiian shirt is my buddy, the light one his son. I'm in red, white and blue... A few hour drive and a domestic flight later and we'll be in Bangkok again for Songkan.) About the only thing there right now is an empty pond... This is in rural, northern Thailand up on the border of Laos. My buddy's brother's wife's whole family lives in the town you can see briefly:

The guy on the scooter is the FiL. His house is a half-block walk down the street from what will be the front gate of the his daughter's new house. He currently has some cattle grazing on the lot... Cows like dubstep, right? They seemed mostly unconcerned by the drone.  They didn't like it much when we walked over there though:

Sorry, no HD island surfing this time. Just a couple vids in a new place I've never flown before.

Looks like you had a very nice trip even if you didn't get to FPV in some exotic spots. Thai people are very polite and courteous, but I imagine that would change quickly if you found yourself on the wrong end of the law, so it is good you didn't do something risky and put that to the test, especially in a foreign country. I guess you didn't get a chance to go to Chiang Mai or pass by paddy fields, I've always wanted to fly FPV in that environment after seeing all the gorgeous photos... maybe one day...

I didn't make it to Chang Mai but I did hit Sri Chiang Mai. lol.

This is a farm that belongs to relatives of my buddy. We were invited out for a lunch.  It would have been a great place to fly but we didn't expect to be there and all our drone gear was back at the hotel.

One of the dishes served was "dancing shrimp". Here the the shrimp are being harvested from the traps in the pond:

Which was promptly washed and seasoned...

Tasted okay, but boy did it mess with my diverticulitis for an evening! It was the only thing that bothered my gut on the whole trip and we ate some funky stuff. Didn't get a chance to try scorpions though. I saw several bug carts but only one had them and his line was looong.
