Serious stuff!

As a further comment on illegality, and for pure example, some of the bands or frequencies within that band on that VTX (and many others now on sale at lower max power) spread WAY outside the UK legal air to ground video band.

So far outside into other users that use of them especially at that high power seems certain to cause issue, and possibly gain unwanted attention.

SO, is there a list of which origin countries these individual bands ARE legal within (at their legal power)?   AFAIK I'm aware of only three "country" bands on that list currently, and one of those has all eight frequencies outside the UK legal band.

Also, the other question here is which off-the-shelf analog VRX's are actually capable of picking up and tuning into some of those illegal frequencies? I only know of one so far which it the TBS Fusion module where TBS recently adding more channels, bands and wider frequency range capabilities in a recent firmware update, some of which are well outside the legal 5.8GHz range. The TBS "N" band seems to match up with the AKK "X" band (see another post about that HERE) but none of the others do so I wonder which receivers can pick those up. AKK do sell their own diversity VRX module (See HERE) but as of yet there is no information about it supporting additional channels, bands or freqiencies. Maybe they are planning that in a future batch and/or a firmware update.

All of the quads I've seen being used by both sides in the conflict zone have TBS Crossfire installed on them, so I'm guessing that TBS are one of the key suppliers of equipment which means they will be making quite a lot of money out of that and probably why general consumer stock of their gear is either low or non-existent right now. I've not seen any official information on their Unify VTX's now being able to broadcast on those additional frequencies but just like they rolled out the Fusion firmware update by stealth with no real announcement, they are hardly going to shout about any changes to Unify VTX capabilities it output on illegal frequencies because that could end up with bad publicity for them. I guess AKK have now also decided that they want a slice of the pie.

Whaaaat, 10watts? But why xD
Can that realy increase the range or make it more reliable even on a bad antenna settup? Or does it just eat more energy from the lipo :-)

Thing is, does it matter. As Snow mentioned, it has a usage case, but not necessarily a consumer usage case. If you put this in a model plane or quad that is being used for a long one way trip, it's still liable to be cheaper than any of the alternatives available. It really isn't aimed at us.

Saying that i wonder if UMT will start offering them under their own brand Chaos VTX (rebranded AKK), maybe as TheFPV Chaos Ultimate VTX, for when you need to (literally) fly to the moon. Tongue

Back to my question, do these "bands" relate to any country legality?

I have a wide number of headsets and goggles.  Spin even slightly away from the Fat Sucks or Team Bull **** of this world , and there's actually quite a proliferation of bands on offer.

I teach my schoolboys to ignore band code letters as its inconsistent and so IMO largely unusable. So they only use the four figure frequency and calculate their own safe separation.

As just one example I have one Headset where "A" band 8 frequencies are labelled "C" (perfect match on all 8)

I have 15 analogue headsets/goggles, and three HD, one DJI and two HDZ.  There's NO "match" of frequencies across those, though obviously the main user bands are there on each.

There is no standardisation, has not been, ever.

Examples:-

Ancient AOMWAY 48 channels, 6 bands, with bands labelled FR 1-6, and frequencies in each band labelled CH1-8.

Ancient ImmersionRC NextWave, 32 channels, Band labelled 1-5, and frequencies in each band labelled 1-8.

Eachine VR007Pro, 32 channels, Band labelled 1-5, and frequencies in each band labelled 1-8

Then you get to :-

Eachine D-MONI screen which has NINE bands, each 8 frequencies, labelled A,B,E,F,R, U, O, L, AND H.

So, THREE bands have the same code letter as the OP VTX, U, O, and L.

The AKK Alpha has P and X "extra". the D-MONI H.

Go Figure!

Out of time now, more maybe later................, but the choice of letters is not random, so what then?

And here I thought I was being edgy by putting out a little 10mW FM signal to mess with my neighbors.

Gal Kremer appears to have done some testing with the AKK Alpha VTXs a few weeks back using a ground based vehicle. Looking at the footage from time position 3:06 his neighbours must have been wondering why the hell their WiFi and other wireless technology signals had suddenly turned to Poop  Big Grin

Man, the footprint that thing must create on a spectrograph... Bet it jams everything in half a mile!
