0 I'm looking for advice on what is the best solution for connecting the FC of a CineWhoop to my USB cable for connection to BetaFlight. I have several of those little 90 degree adapters, but they are pretty fragile and my students keep pulling them apart. Is there a better solution? For example, could I buy 90 degree adapters and leave them on permanently, or would that cause an arming flag? Could I solder a 90 degree connection directly? I need to make sure whatever solution I settle on is "student resistant" because no matter how much I stress taking care, inevitably someone fails to do so.

788 Having an adapter permanently plugged into the USB port on the FC doesn't prevent arming. It is a serial connection all the way through to your computer which prevents arming (for safety reasons because it means that your quad is effectively tethered to your computer).

0 That's what I thought would be the case. I will order a few adapters and make them permanent additions.

0 I thought about making a few short cables like that, but I don't need them if I can keep the little right angles in the FC tightly enough. I'll probably hot glue them in place or put a little dab of solder., maybe even a small cable tie. I'll have to brainstorm once I have the tops off the drones so I can work on it.

121 If you’re trying to make them “student resistant”, keep in mind that leaving that 90 degree in there is going to act like a lever on the usb port on the board every time they go to plug into it.
Might be better off with the magnet option, or small extensions with flexible wires/strain relief.
Dangerous operations.
Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about.
I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose.

0 I've been hunting for a short cable with a 90 degree male to female USB C. They are really not easy to find in the correct orientation (the bend needs to be 90 degree vertical because of the way the frame is designed). Same goes for the magnetic connectors. They seem to all be 90 degree horizontal. I'll keep hunting, though, because that's a good idea.
