I use this to power both my camera and vtx. these are the pads I use to plug into the vbat of the flight controller and this is where I get my 5v power for my flight controller. for the cam, I'm using a runcam board cam which has the same specs as the runcam swift. initially it's a swift without the housing. the reason why I like using this board cam is because the camera mounting plate is fixed to the frame. I usually fly with a 30 degree uptilt anyways, which is what most quads with fixed camera plates come as. so I prefer using a board cam that screws to the plate cause I crash a lot, and I mean a whole lot, and with cams that have housings that mount on the side plates, they tend to move after a crash and it's annoying to me to have to find just right angle again. • Posts: 146 Threads: 10 Likes Received: 37 in 24 posts Likes Given: 15 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 4 So this is why nobody's heard from you... It all makes since now. I think we need to have an intervention and send you to quad builders anonymous (QBA) haha Posts: 626 Threads: 96 Likes Received: 531 in 218 posts Likes Given: 188 Joined: May 2016 Reputation: 20 21-Jul-2016, 05:41 PM (This post was last modified: 21-Jul-2016, 06:37 PM by JimmyLe813.) I think we need to have an intervention and send you to quad builders anonymous (QBA) haha no my daughter lost my phone. lol but I should be getting a new one today, you would think they would have my phone in stock. so after double checking all my solder joints to make sure I got my wires correct, I mount the FC and plug everything in, except the cam and vtx. I do that at the very end after I'm done flashing and calibrating and all that good stuff, just in case I did do something wrong I don't fry the fpv stuff, and no need for the vtx to be plugged in getting hot while it's on the bench. so I close the door, cross my fingers, say a little prayer and plug in a battery. and this is why you always keep your props off, as you can see in the picture, two of the motors spun up after they beeped. • Posts: 626 Threads: 96 Likes Received: 531 in 218 posts Likes Given: 188 Joined: May 2016 Reputation: 20 21-Jul-2016, 08:28 PM (This post was last modified: 21-Jul-2016, 08:29 PM by JimmyLe813.) so now after flashing Betaflight 2.9, checking all my esc's, setting up all my ports, aux channels, switches...etc...etc. I assemble the whole quad. check to make sure the cam and vtx are working. install my props, and now it's time to hit the field. I will be posting videos soon. Posts: 203 Threads: 39 Likes Received: 42 in 32 posts Likes Given: 1 Joined: Jul 2016 Reputation: 2 Those props are awesome. I am sure you will get to love this frame and once you get the carbon fibre gopro mount you are set.. Great job • Posts: 626 Threads: 96 Likes Received: 531 in 218 posts Likes Given: 188 Joined: May 2016 Reputation: 20 Thanks Biggles, it's a great frame, easy to put together, plenty of room for everything. feels nice and strong. I just wish the top plate was a 2mm plate, but maybe with the 8 standoffs instead of just 6 it'll hold up better. I will be posting more videos, and a final thought in a few days. Thanks again Biggles. well hopefully this will help someone out that's new to building, or that is thinking about building a quad. there are many different ways of going about building a quad, there is no one fool proof way. I myself am still learning, and trying to pick up little tricks from others, and always open for suggestions. but I'm pretty sure there's one thing that anyone that has ever built a quad from beginner to pro, will agree with me on. ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK YOUR WORK. it's better to catch an error on the bench than find out in the air. • Posts: 2,416 Threads: 51 Likes Received: 1,861 in 1,175 posts Likes Given: 3,315 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 74 Great build thread Jimmy! I think once I get it dialed in it'll probably fly just as good as my high end qav-r frame. • |
