My problem with XT60s is that they are always too tight! I really have to apply a lot of force to separate them. :/

Thanks! I googled around and it's quite a versatile stuff: 100yr old mothers in law use it. It's used for baby butts and mothers nipples. It's also used in the automotive and marine industry. Will try to get some from the last two categories. 07-Nov-2016, 04:54 AM Very good, this is really great.....? 21-Jan-2017, 12:34 AM This has actually been a pondering point for me in my reseach. Is there a specific reason for using the xt-60 connectors? I started using deans style connectors many years ago in all of my RC buggies and trucks because of the minimal resistance and the tight fit of the plug itself. 70mph somersaults over n over and have NEVER had one unplug, provided batterys stayed strapped in. I have had inertia unplug one when the battery was flinging around lol. And thats using 2 batts in series with a Y connection, so 3 connections in total. Thats been my experience, be it mostly ground oriented. So maybe someone can offer some insight as to why the drone hobby steers in the direction of the xt-60 vs Deans style. Should I maybe start a discussion thread on this subject? 08-Feb-2017, 08:03 PM I use a small piece of wire for mine. I strip about 5mm of the end and solder it to one of the 4 progs, that way the wire will stay in one place. I think it was 18ga with the shielding still on. I was having problems with my xt60 on my DJI F450 till I done this. I am sure a toothpick will do the same thing. 08-Feb-2017, 11:40 PM (21-Jan-2017, 12:34 AM)Drone0fPrey Wrote: This has actually been a pondering point for me in my reseach.I find XT60s are much easier to solder and less chance of shorting. Plus with high voltage application, the Deans seem to spark a lot when I'm connecting them. 27-Mar-2017, 08:00 PM (25-Aug-2016, 07:12 PM)oyvinla Wrote: Word of wisdom: always keep a spare... Too many spare parts is just right. I always have two (or more ha ha) flyable quads for each classification that I fly, enough spare parts to build two (or 3) more, and the shopping...well that goes with the territory. As for the connectors, I always have a bin full of them; just in case. I like all of the suggestions here. Using a toothpick is a nice quick solution (will keep a box of wooden ones in my kit). On the other hand, my preference is the wire and solder method (or just solder the end of the connector). |
