Xlite Pro - D16 Mode, Batch 2 Updates
#1
Some pretty encouraging news from Frsky from over at RCG ...

Quote:Hello sir,

If you have the receivers like XM and XM+, you actually do not need a multi-protocol module. The new ACCESS radios will support binding D16 mode receivers with its internal module (ETA in May), and upcoming XJT Lite external module will support binding D8 mode receivers (ETA in June )

And we estimate the ACCESS firmware of the second batch for XM and XM+ will be available in one week.

Thanks

This news is promising. This contrary to rumors that the new radio will lock you into the new ACCESS protocol.

I finally got my Vantac MPM and fired up Nightly build ON10 ...

* 3-inch Armattan Gecko builds with XM+ work great on D16!

* Mobula7HD with 2-3s Crazybee FC using Frsky SPI works great on D16!

* BetaFPV 65S with their own AIO FC using Frsky SPI works great on D16!

My entire fleet (yes, it's a small fleet we are but a po' folk) is all flying great!! I am getting telemetry just fine. I'm also stoked that the BetaFPV 65S actually has decent reception now. On the old Xlite, I would lose RSSI before I lost video. I suspect the bit of added boost is due to the external dipole on the MPM.

IMPORTANT... my MPM does not power on automatically. I have to switch models for it to kick in as indicated by the little LEDs being off before I switch models. I also suspect it has to be a model that is using the MPM - I'm not sure since all of my models are using it right now. This was a total headache for me since I would think everything bound fine, tested the rx signals in BF, then would go outside to find that it would not bind. I did this like 3 times before realizing the MPM wasn't even on lol.

But man I am loving this setup right now. The gimbals feel like such an improvement. Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin

Great resource for any Frsky firmware updates: http://gyger.co/frsky/

Firmware is up!!!

1. Fix the power management unit issue for the external module.
2. Add the support of R9M Lite module (ACCST).
3. Add the support of D16 mode for ISRM (ISRM_N for X9 Lite, ISRM_P for X-Lite Pro).
