X4R-SB bound but not communicating with taranis
#1
my x4r-sb binds but will not do anything in the receiver tab in betaflight 3.1 - i usually set swithces after i do channel mapping n ensure signal from the taranis, not getting that with the x4r-sb. Running betaflight f3 flight controller. i have 2 x4r-sb and both are doing this so i dont think theyre broken. yes im familiar with building quads n i've never seen this before - i usually use xm+ receivers but gave these a try hoping for even longer range - the receivers bind fine - shows a solid green light after binding. serial rx set correctly to uart2 as i soldered to and smart port is connected and working being my taranis says "telemetry lost......telemetry recovered" yes, i've checked the signal wire at least 50 times. yes config is set to s.bus.
i know im missing a small piece in this puzzle - i usually use xm+ which are totally plug n play - i wire them n they work first try. just looking for someone familiar with this issue because i been researching it for 2 days now n i cant find any explanation, except people who have this problem, post it, get a solution but dont post that

Can you post your betaflight setup? What UART you wired to? What F3 FC?

yes, as stated before im using the new betaflight f3 flight controller - i have power, ground and signal wires soldered to uart3 on the fc and the yellow signal wire going to rx of uart1 on fc because uarts can only do one thing at a time. when i try to wire to the s.bus pin nothing is recognized  - with this set up i get telemetry n im able power and successfully bind the x4r-sb (my taranis says "telemetry lost, telemetry recovered" - i have a solid green light indicating successful binding)

The telemetry issue is due to swamping. Get some distance between TX and RX...

thanx but i dont have a telemetry issue, i was only saying that it says both messages thus confirming its soldered correctly n is working correctly n so im very sure the device isnt faulty cuz i can confirm power n telemetry. no it doesnt say those messages constantly back to back

I'm having the exact same issue! Did you get it fixed?  If so, please let me know how!

Still at work so not tried this yet but I think I may have worked it out! I was trying to connect using the plug on the side of the receiver. This is for analogue (AIN) or smart port telemetry. You need to connect SBUS from the pins. See here https://oscarliang.com/sbus-smartport-telemetry-naze32/ .

Will try this evening and let you know but certainly looks like the mistake I have been making!

I am truly sorry for not reading you original post carefully enough.

I am pretty sure you did all this, but just trying to go through a checklist.

Did you select serial-based receiver and SBUS under configuration tab?  Is SBUS_inversion = On?

I'm having the same issue. I'm using identical parts from a build I did last year but this one won't communicate. I tried everything mentioned above with no luck.

My next guess is to try and update my taranis.

Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Are you bounded? Green light when both TX and RX on?

Can you show photos of wiring? Screen shot of betaflight port and configuration tabs. CLI dump.

The past participle of 'bind' is 'bound'.

Tongue

You wouldn't say 'founded' instead of 'found' would you?

Yes Mrs. Unseen. I thoughted you put "ed" on everything. Why is English so difficult with so many exceptions?
