X-Racer F303 PWM connection
#1
Completely new to this and starting out with a ZMR250 v2 kit from FPVModel coming with the X-Racer F303 FC, which I can find very little documentation for. It looks like it shipped with an SBUS or PPM connector to the Rx (cable with three wires) only instead of a breakout RC cable, and I'm using a stock Turnigy 9x which only supports PWM.

At a bit of a loss as to how to connect the receiver to the FC... can I just get Naze32 breakout cables and use them? Do I need to supply G/V/S for each channel, or would the wiring be similar to the Naze32 Rev6 which (as far as I can tell) has G/V/S connections for channel 1 on the FC and then a line of S connections for the remaining channels?

I know there are PPM and maybe even SBUS tx/rx solutions for the Turnigy 9x but if I can get this all sorted with some extra cables, it would make my life much simpler! Thanks in advance...

Hi Kishida,

Yes PWM is supported on the F303 boards. so long as you have the required cables you are good to go. Big Grin

Thanks, Biggles. I'm not too much use with a wiring diagram (yet!)... in terms of the cables I need, do I need to supply ground and power for each channel, or can I run just signal wires to the top row from from the Rx? Trying to work out whether I can get an existing set of cables for something like a Naze32 or whether I need to make them from scratch...

oooops, my bad.

You need a set like this

You can just cut the jst connector off and solder directly to the F303 or you can just put servo connectors on and solder the servo pins to the FC.  Hope that helps you.

Yep, all you really need is a few servo cables, with the same connector at each end, one end goes to the FC, the other to your RX,

Make one cable with all 3 wires and the others with just one (signal wire).

You can easily remove the wires you do not need.

If you have a look here, http://www.flyingtech.co.uk/cables-conne...ultiwii-kk

That cable set will see you right, so long as your RX has signal pins.

The 3 wire cable goes on pin 1 on the FC and RX, the single ones need to go to pin 2, 3, 4 etc (usually the FC software will know what cable is what regards the single wires).

Just make sure that whatever colour you use on the 3 pin cable for ground, matches ground on the RX, as for the single cable connectors, they are all signal wires.

Ideally, SBUS is the way to go, faster and much cleaner.

I am using a spectrum DX6i transmitte and my reciever is http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/13133328942...noapp=true

I used to use the Naze 32 and the f303 is really foreign to me.

I see what you mean by the diagram but everything i try to do to connect the reciever to the f303, the f303 wont pick up the stick movement.

There should be no difference in terms of connecting the F303 or the NAZE32 in Cleanflight/Betaflight.

Step 1. Plug all the cables in correctly to FC and RX
Step 2. Radio and RX are bound
Step 3. Open CF/BF make sure you assign a Port, Try UART3, save
Step 4. In CF/BF, go to Configuration and then select your receiver type, PWM SBUS etc and then just below it select your type. Save

Power up the Radio and then the quad (props off) (you need the lipo plugged in)

Go into CF/BF and receiver tab and then see if you get stick movement.

If in doubt, please post some screenshots of each page of your CF/BF GUI.

And then one of us will be able to guide you a bit better.

Good luck.

HOOOLY DOOOLY ! That is some rats nest you have going on there.

I can see you have your rx to the DSM pins.

I personally would wire it to Ch1, Ch2, 3, 4 etc Providing your RX can handle 5 volts.

also, just a tip. I personally would not wind my esc cables around the standoffs, either trim them, or bundle them together. Personal choice, but that is what I would do.

ok ill take in to consideration about the esc wires and ya its a big mess, im going to clean it up when i get the quad running  Tongue im going to put the wires to Ch1 rn and ill send you another picture, but when i do that, what port should i put it into the reciever.

I run my F303 on UART 3, so try that one first.
