Would you fly this frame
#1
I crashed my CineLog30 a few too many times and now one of the arms looks like this.
Would you fly this frame? Duct tape it? Or buy a new frame ASAP (it's a single piece)?

I’d get a new frame. You’ve got delamination on the top and bottom, so I would expect those center layers to be weakened as well.

If it was my only frame, I’d probably try to fix it by putting epoxy or some other glue in between layers and then clamping between two pieces of wood or whatnot (probably put some wax paper between the arm and the wood so that it doesn’t get glued to the wood), then let it sit overnight. It’d keep me in the air until I got a replacement frame, but I’d expect some vibrations that could cause some odd flight characteristics.

The last time I needed to do a carbon fiber repair, I think after I glued the layers back in place, I then put some more epoxy all around it and wrapped a bit of paper towel around it, then soaked the paper towel with epoxy. It was an attempt to give it a bit more strength. Held up well, no idea if the paper towel had anything to do with that or not, I didn’t try flying it prior to wrapping it.

Epoxy typically isn’t flexible, so some other strong yet semi-flexible adhesive might work better, especially since that arm is a larger repair.
Dangerous operations.

Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about.
I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose.

this will cause a lot noise, decrease handling and flight performance, maybe also give bad video.
i wouldnt fly that frame

^^ this tbh. The noise vibrations will reek havoc on your gyro and you will need to up your filtering / lower d term (and by extension lower p term) to compensate. With that said, if it still flies great to you, then maybe you can still fly it until you get a replacement or get the arm fixed.

This seems to be quite an old thread... but if anyone is looking for a replacement cinelog30 plate, $9 shipped from GEPRC.
