Working on a 3” build, looking for advice
#1
I’m working on putting a 3” build together for my second quad, and am looking for advice for part selection. https://rotorbuilds.com/build/20359 That’s what I have so far, but I still need a VTX. I’m not entirely sure that everything I have is compatible, because the hole spacing on the Gecko is kinda weird (two separate stacks I think?)
Any advice would be appreciated!

I've built a few 3" Geckos and the spacing of the dual stacks is standard 20x20 but yes, they are close together. With that said, I still have had enough room for an ESC harness between the 4-in-1 and the FC if that is what you're worried about. I've used a Mamba F4 MK2 and Mamba F7 20x20 mini stacks and both work fine if you want to compare dimensions to your HolyBro.

I also used those same T-Motors on all my Gecko builds - they are amazing. You can pretty much pick any 20x20 vtx since it looks like you are not running an HD split style cam so you will have tons of space. I used the HGLRC Forward Mini VTX on my Gecko builds solely based on the MMCX connector and onboard mic (I like to hear my motors).

Here's my latest Gecko build log: https://intofpv.com/t-armattan-gecko-3-b...-part-deux

i would go for a tbs unify nano32, if i like to save money an eachine vtx03s. if you like to go with a stackable 20x20mm vtx, i use a akk fx3 ultimate, it work very well....

i would suggest the hq3030x3, hq3040x3, azure3060x3. i fly the 3250kv f20 II, actualy with hq4043x3. the azure3060x3 and hq3030x3 are my overall favorites.

Are you referring to the Whitenoise FPV mounting boards? https://whitenoisefpv.com/products/unify...ting-board

They are great mounting boards. There are others too not sure if they are just private label.

No, mine is an actual TBS mounting board.  Mine came with it.  In the picture, if it posts, I've already attached the Nano, but you'll get the picture.  I have three, all came with one.

Oh, you might not notice, but I enlarged the holes as the Gecko holes are M3 and the Nano board is, well was M2. Just turned a drill bit by hand.

From what I can see, the rear stack on the Gecko is M3 but that FC is M2. Would that cause problems?

Sorry I should have mentioned I used an M3-to-M2 adapter. I designed some 3D printed ones which I think I posted in my build log linked above. Or you can just get some adapters. I've also heard people just use M2 screws and had no problems but my 3rd degree OCD precludes me from doing stuff like that lol.

Would anything stop me from just using the front holes for FC/ESC stack and the rear holes for VTX?

Strange . . . there's no indication in the vendors' listings (I checked RDQ and GetFPV) that it comes with a mounting board.  Where did you buy your VTXs?

GetFPV. Correct, isn't listed, mentioned, or shown. All three I got from them came with it.
