Wobble and PIDS?
#1
I'm running Betaflight with rewrite PID controller, running stock PID values.

I was trying to tune, but whatever I do, I get a bad wobble when I "push" my quad.

Should I adjust TPA, or look at lowering the pids, then pull rates up?
Its far from locked in as it is?
New props and vibrations are good.

I have added TPA , and lowered PIDs, better, but still there on punch out.. Anyone else having this issue with the latest betaflight?

Lower P gain for punch out vibration. But you may get less locked in feeling in other areas.

but anyway I prefer high P to make it feel more "snappy". In theory you want to run as high of a P as possible before it starts over-correcting and oscillating. I also push my D up to catch what P can't. I is just there to pick up any pieces that P and D don't get in the end. With rewrite the values have a bigger margin so play around with increasing and decreasing your values by a bigger margin and see what it feels like. I have also been wrong before and I constantly mess with my tune as I'm never happy.

I was also told to incrase D gain to make the quad fly smoother, is that correct?

Higher D values cause a lot of noise in the system which could even cause the esc fires in some worst cases. If you can use blackbox you will visually see how much noise your D value is giving your system. I typically run higher D than most pilots using my similar set up but I just like how it feels.

It is normally advised to adjust D last so yea, bump up the P on pitch and/or roll and see how that feels. Give some quick rolls and see if you get a 1 or 2 oscillation when back to center. Try and make really snappy movements and check bounce. If it feels good then leave D where it is. The lower the D value the less noise and less heat generated in your motors.

TPA is really helpful if you feel you have a locked in tune but when you do big punch outs or slam on the throttle you get those vibrations. Using a bit of TPA instead of messing with your tune will be less of a headache.

Finally got some where with this, I increase I gain on roll, What a difference! i was truly amazed at how it flies now, cant raise P any more, and I feels good..
