wiring a 12v cam to a 5v vtx
#1
I've seen where people are adding a step up but I was wondering why or if I cant just wire the cam to the pdb for 12v????

I have a Unify pro and a Foxeer Arrow.

ofcourse you can, if your pdb gives out 12v you are good to go, i'd add capacitator (low esr) to the whole pdb to kill majority of the noise and... you ar egood to go Smile

in that case you would have signal cable going from cam to VTX and ground and power to pdb.
All the best

What is a capacitor... a very common type of electrical component, simply google it
Low ESR - a property of certain type of capacitor, in a nutshell, this type of capacitor has better filtering capability.

Thanks for the info Oscar and GrishaO.

GrishaO, just to clarify when you say add capacitor to whole pdb does that mean to add it inbetween the battery and pdb?

you can add it anywhere you please, general rule is to put it nearest to the source of the noise, but i use it next to the battery leads and it works great

Another approach is to put it as near as possible to the sensitive components. Both work
