It got some surprisingly good reviews on BG and for a very good price too, I would love to see your results if you do decide to go for it...

Just received my kit.

Recycling old quad gear.

1806/2300KV
12A HK BLue ESC
5x3 or 5x3x3 props
X4R-SB
FX48X VTX
Eachine CCD

I also have an old Flip32 so plan to throw that in with iNav for stabilisation.

Don't know whether it'll be a bit underpowered but we'll see.  Can throw a 2205 in there if need be but I'd like to use the old gear I will never re-use on my current quads; plus, build light for better duration flights.  Really want to use the old 5x3 props, have a box full and for quad use they pretty much break immediately.  If I don't use them for this they may as well go straight in the bin.  Even if I need to put a new prop on after every landing it'll be making some use of them.

Very tidy! I like your custom 3D printed parts and the way you've used the fin for one of the receiver antennas.

The GPS antenna might not like being that close to the motor though.

Yeah agree regards the GPS but we'll see I guess.  You can't see it here but the motor is actually out on the back rather than inside the cowl.  I was more worried about the magnetometer getting interference from the motor than the GPS tbh.

I can always move it out on to the wing later but I didn't want to take out more chunks of foam than I needed to and nice to keep it all neat and tucked away.

Hoping maiden will be this weekend.

You don't need a magnetometer for a fixed wing.

As fixed wings have to fly forwards, accurate heading can be inferred from multiple position readings.

Had a failsafe yesterday, whoops. Think the SBUS cable was loose. Pretty much lost contact with it when I threw it to launch. Almost 30 mins later (circling in failsafe mode) the battery finally ran down and it landed in a tree (naturally)...

SBUS cable replaced and all is well.

Very wobbly on the yaw axis.  The weather is windy and a bit gusty so will have to evaluate it more on a calm day.  Could be the CG needs tweaking too?

Wings are wobbly on yaw. It's a feature rather than a bug! Big Grin

Yes and no.  I've had various wings in the past and they haven't been this unstable.  I'm going to try a PID tune first as it could simply be that.  It was very windy too.  Ground speed changing from 10mph to 50mph turning downwind so that's a 20mph wind and gusty too Smile
