Which one would yall recommend?
#1
Option 1: FrSky Qx7
Option 2: FrSky Taranis X9 Lite
Option 3: RadioMaster T16S
Other:______________

Am buying 4 of whichever transmitter and 8 matching receivers for a club, am trying to see what would be best for longevity/budget while still being quality. In my experience and that of most people I've met the QX7 is preferred, the other project lead wants to just go all out for the radiomaster. This is really more of a tie breaker type thing unless yall know of something better.

Well, I’m GUESSING your going with Frsky protocol.. ACCESS/ or ACCST?? So you plan on flying ANY whoops? On D8 or spi?
Taranis makes a very good controller.. but Frsky firmware recently has been a mess if u have older (last year) components
Bardwell recently did a review of some new controllers and how they stack up with older stuff..
Check out his videos.. it will help you make a better educated decision …
Especially with Frsky’s new protocol stuff

I would like to go with the FrSky QX7(ACCESS, the other lead wants radiomaster) since thats similar to what I use personally, hopefully some whoops would be added to that list of quads (D8 most likely).

Be aware that the ACCESS version of the QX7 can't natively bind in D8 mode. To bind to D8 mode you would need to buy an additional multi-protocol module (or an XJT module) to go in the back of it. You will face the same issue with the X9 Lite.

The RadioMaster TX16S supports virtually all of the standard (non-LoRa) 2.4GHz protocols via it's built in multi-protocol module including ACCST D8, ACCST D16 1.x and ACCST D16 2.x. It doesn't however support the ACCESS protocol, but I don't see why you would really need to use ACCESS.

Yea I have an XJT module on my radio, and it is one reason I do like the radiomaster over the taranis. The price of buying 4 radiomasters is the part im not a huge fan of

In that case you could get 4x QX7 ACCESS transmitters at $138 each ($552 total), but you would also need 4x external XJT modules (or 4x external multi-protocol modules) at ~$40 each ($160 total). So that would be a grand total of ~$712.

The RadioMaster TX16S (the one with hall effect gimbals) is $200, so that would be a grand total of $800 for 4 of those.

I guess it depends if you think it is worth saving ~$88 by going for the QX7 with an external module.
