2 03-Aug-2018, 12:28 PM (This post was last modified: 03-Aug-2018, 02:02 PM by coolUsername.) Hello everyone,
I am doing my fifth build (I have one 5 inch, one 3 inch, and crashed and broke 2 5 inch :x).
I am now looking for a 4inch build.
Here is the list of the parts I was thinking to use:
- Quattrovolante 4 inch Xeno Frame (42 g)
- Omnibus F4 nano V6 + Ori32 ESC 4 in 1 (25A)
- Runcam micro eagle
- TBS Unify Pro V3 VTX 5.8GHz (SMA)
- R XSR Receiver
- 4045 BN props
- 850 mah 4S
As always, I have absolutely no idea which motors to use. I usually go with what the crowd says but for a 4inch there seems to be too many options.
1407, 1507, 1806, 2204...
Can you point me in the right direction ?
Also, all my 850mah are XT30, do you think I can put an XT30 pigtail or do I need XT60 ?

388 To answer your motor question, it will depend on the frame. Some frame only allows for 22xx motors while other only allows 14xx-15xx motors. You have to look at the spec. 4 inch frame is a tricky because they are between motor sizes. At the beginning, 4 inches frame only used 22xx motors. Then Catalyst machinework and Armattan came out with 4 inch using 14xx motors. If I had to pick, I would go with either 14xx or 15xx. You will not be disappointed.
If your lipo is XT30 then just put XT30 pigtail. Unless you are planning to start buying lipo with XT60. Again, 4 inch is in between sizes for lipo plugs too. I ended up with using XT60 pigtail because I started buying lipo with XT60. I made an XT30 to XT60 adapter to fly the XT30 lipos.

2 Waw thanks for your swift answers.
So basically I should go for 22xx if the frame allows, and if not 1507 3600KV ?
What about the amp draw? I am afraid with 22xx my ESC won't hold. Maybe I just change ESC then... Not sure.

6 Just put some Brotherhobby Avenger 1507/3600kv motors on a build and so far like them a lot. They also have screw holes for both size mountings so they will fit any frame.

24 The components to build a 4" arrived at the post office today! I'm using LDARC (KingKong) 1806 2500kV on the Hantu4 frame, so a pretty budget 4". Still undecided, but I think I'm going to be using the stack-X F4 FC with integrated VTX and 35A DShot600 4-in-1 ESC, not sure if the frame will fit either the Runcam Split, or the Stack-X 1080p camera and board, but I will confirm tomorrow... I have 4S 850mAh (70C) black label batteries from IDQ (Indestructible Quads) and just got a Zippy 1000mAh (35C {I actually thought the discharge rate was higher}) which is about 5 grams lighter than the black labels so I will let you know how this combination works.
