VTX Signal Strength
#1
Any way to get signal strength of the video transmitter on my OSD?

Using Betaflight 3.1.7 with a couple different VTX's TBS Unify Pro HV, Eachine Tx526, RMRC Cricket 200mw.

Fatshark RX on googles.

I don't think that is possible as it is the receiver that has the rssi. Some receivers have rssi warnings on a beeper (rx5808) but not on the quads osd.

But isn't it quite obvious when you have a poor vtx signal as the picture is crap?

Yeah it's obvious but I'd like to see how close I am to dropping out when there is static starting to show. No big deal. Thx

The only way I have seen rssi been implemented for warnings so far is by using something like the realacc diversity module flashed with the firmware found in the link. It looks like you can attach a a beeper to the module and make it beep whenever the rssi is below a chosen value.
I have not tried this particular firmware, but I'm using the old firmware from G9CN and from my experience it works very well.

TBH, RSSI is a really impractical tool to mini quad.
Usually when you see a drop in RSSI it's usually too late as environment changes so much more rapidly to mini quad. It's more useful to planes as they are moving more slowly and gradually.
Not to mention VTX RSSI... you will have a black screen before you even see that drop of RSSI LOL...

I normally just do a range check around the place I fly before going crazy Smile

Sounds good, I was just curious since I like tinkering around, trying things out.
