Vtx and dvr with runcam Phoenix 2?
#1
I seen some vtx have dvr built into them i was wondering whats the best rout to go to record and transmit video? Can i add a dvr inline with the vtx and cam or does it have to be a vtx built in dvr? Im on the home stretch of completing my build. All i have left to do is order my fpv transmitter and receiver and a 6s battery.

Also mounting a gopro is an option but id love to use the cam already on the drone.

You can get something like the RunCam Mini DVR but keep in mind that any footage recorded to the unit will still be in in analogue standard low definition quality, just without the OSD or any interference/breakup that you would get from goggles DVR. If you want high definition footage then your only real options are either one of the dual cameras (Caddx Tarsier / RunCam Hybrid), or an HD camera mounted on top of the quad.

Regarding the onboard DVR for the analogue feed, have a read of Oscar's article at the link below...

thanks to the reply straight to the point! so if i mounted a gopro ontop of the drone or below does center mass play part in where placement needs to be?

Any centre of gravity offset with a GoPro on will be negligible, and with a camera on the front the battery is going to end up being further back so that will also help to balance things out. Either way, if there is more weight on the front or the back, the PID controller will take care of it and one set of motors will just end up working slightly harder.
