Video Noise in my FPV feed
#1
I've been putting together a new build (chameleon frame, BFF3 FC, ipeaka ESCs, redbottoms, foxeer 25/200/600 vtx, Runcam swift) and am getting horrible interference in the video feed when the motors spin up. To a point where you can't see through the osd "snow".

Now before you say it, I have googled it.

I have all my video components wired to the AGND and RAM (12v) pads, which I believe are supposed to be filtered.
Now I haven't tried adding a cap to the battery lead but I didn't believe I would need to, having filters already built into the board. Also, the interference is that bad that I don't think the cap would do a whole lot. (correct me if I'm wrong).

The interference is the worst I have ever seen, not even remotely flyable.

Has anybody else experienced something similar with this board?

I suggested to try a cap first because it is cheap and it only takes a minute to solder in.
Also check if your motor screws aren't touching any motor windings.

Oscar has written articles for both subjects:

2 things.

1. validate grounds are not making a loop (everything should be connected to one point)
<- 2.
All the best

When wiring your caps, make sure you use something like a 16awg wire and solder the connection as close to the base of the caps. The Raceflight guys show that you will not get the maximum ESR benefits if you solder the wire further away from the base.

I also use a mini voltage regulator.

Just because the voltage is filtered, it doesn't mean that the voltage is not subject to voltage spikes.

MyRCMart do a range of tiny LC filters for VTX/Camera noise reduction, options from 0.5A to 3A and between 1s and 6s voltages

On the loop part. I have been reading about the ground loops and understand the theory. What I don't understand is the physical application of the theory. Are you saying every black/ ground wire should be grounded to a certain point? Even different voltages? This part confuses me. I think a ground loop may be my issue.

Ground has not voltage. Everything will eventually go back to the source (lipo) regardless of voltage.

The set up you describe should work as is. Caps and filters are not necessary. They do help clean up the feed but aren’t required for it all to work. If you have another vtx try it. If not when I run into these issues it sometimes helps to take it apart and resolder.

Hello i need some help with my fpv video feed. I have lot of noise, rolling color lines, image becomes randomly darker and lots of jello, all issues i am trying to fix but the strangest thing is the osd that has a kind of burn in effect like old crt screens. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screen_burn-in
Example:
When I switch flight mode or arm the "disarm " characters fade out but remain almost transparent but visible on my goggles for about 20 seconda.
Matek f405ctr with 1000f cap,Runcan sparrow micro wired to fc (with runcam camera device)and vtx fed from lipo..

Randomly darker image can be a camera issue or camera settings issue. The camera not dealing with the changes in light/dark transition fast enough. I would check your settings under Exposure. Make sure DWDR is on and Shutter auto.

Jelloing could be excessive oscillations or vibration in your quad or poorly mounted camera.

Depending on the amount of rolling color lines, it could just be normal. Can you post video of your feed?

Some ghosting of OSD is normal.

Thank you very much. Jello is due to a flexy 3d printed bracket because Micro Sparrow is sold without any mounting sistem.
I will try to chance camera setting.
In another built (3s 90mm no capacitors installed ) with matekf411 and BG micro camera (5$) and runcam tx200u no osd ghosting at all,the video quality is lots better..
I will post a video soon
