I am not in the area but Ventura County Line was my surfing spot growing up. I'd imagine all along that coast there where you have these discrete nooks and crannies would be ok to fly so long as you didn't bother anyone.

Maybe something a little more discrete. I 'm not too familiar with north of county, but just south is "Staircases" and I think south of Leo Carillo are the three amigo beaches La Piedra, El Pescador, and El Matador. Little unknown beaches like that I think would be good for flying. I live much further south now and those are the spots I pick out if I wanna fly at a beach.

Sounds pretty nice.  Actually my wife and I were thinking of going up to Pismo in the next few weeks, maybe that could work.

Big Sur is very nearby. I think it's technically a natural preserve but if you can find a discrete location, the views are insane.

Mulholland drive is also pretty spectacular and not too busy. I'd also be tempted to fly fixed wing over there, but terrain is rugged and hard to find places to land!
