V-good FireFly 18A ESC
#1
Just bought some V-good Firefly 18A ESC, thought I might share some picture of the ESC without heatshrink package...

This is a 32bit ESC (majority ESC are still 8 bit). But there are hardly any feature that really utilize the 32bit MCU.

One cool thing about this ESC though is the ability of changing rotation by hand: power up, rotate motor in the desire direction, few seconds later after confirm your motor will spin that direction... but not sure how useful that is since we only ever change it once mostly after building the quad Smile

ESC weight 5.7g

I can see myself now..out in the field, I crash, I pick up the quad and hand spin the motors to free them up but now with new esc's I may have just changed rotation without knowing it and gone to take off again and it thrashes around on the dirt.

The idea is good.

BlHeli Suite at all ? if not, no chance of Multishot then ?

I was actually looking at those ESCs earlier, will You check for possibility of flashing different firmware?

The feature to change motor direction sounds good, but can it happen accidentally? Like a single tick on the prop while placing quad on the ground or do You have to make a full resolution?

no you are stuck with the manufacturer's firmware ( as far as i know), because of the 32bit chipset.

Changing prop rotation can only happen after a few seconds after ESC start up, I am not sure how much you have to turn it yet, manual doesn't explain it very clearly, but I don't think you could accidentally change it since you need to disconnect the power and connect it again to do so... but it's a reasonable concern..

Trust me.......if there is a way to "accidently" change rotation, I would find it......multiple times. Cry
