What's much worse is having one of these crawl on you while flying, and keeping your composure until you can set the quad down safely....

That's a Camel Spider, or Sun Spider, or Wind Scorpion....scientific name Solifugae.  They are all over the Desert SW.

Called them Potatoe bugs growing up in California. That would be even worse than the June bugs that land on your neck here in Ohio.

Eeeeew! Those things really creep me out. I have some friends that resided in El Centro for a few years...those things would hang onto the screens around the house at night.

It's funny learning all the different names for these guys.  I know the peeps around Victorville, Barstow and Hesperia call them Vinegaroons.

Yeah, they are kind of gnarly looking, but pretty harmless.  They are non-aggressive, non-venomous, just ugly.  And they are your friends outside around the house.  They eat all the critters you really don't want, like Black Widow spiders and Scorpions.  Just don't like them on me....

LOL, oh Krohsis...that is what I have a shovel and brooms for, smashing scorpions and Black Widows  While I appreciate their attempts to assist me, they are probably better off in the neighbors yard doing their business
