using head tracker for yaw?
#1
a buddy of mine brought this up to me today and I was just wondering would it even be possible? I have a set of skyzone fpv googles with the head tracker built into them, which I let a buddy of mine use on a rc car with a fpv camera on a gimbal. he asked how come I don't use the head tracker on my yaw axis so I can have my quad turn when I turn my head. in theory it should work with a little channel mixing on the transmitter right?

In Theory it could work yes... But...

This picture comes to mind for me.  Minding your own business FPV flying and suddenly a bee starts buzzing around your head, so you shake your head  back and forth, meanwhile your quad is having grand mal seizure spazz attack, flip flopping back and forth.    Might make for an excellent flight video, maybe even on par with Mr Steele and the like. really.. it's not a very good idea Big Grin
you probably had to set a very high Yaw deadband to get rid of oscillations caused by small movements of your head Smile LOL

I just picture unsuspecting bystanders seeing someone twirling in an office chair with fatsharks in the middle of a park somewhere and being like "wtf?"

(edit: ha ha, just realized I accidentally dug up an old thread. I didn't realize I was on page 8 of posts from a previous search)

Oooohhhh, thanks, man - you made my day!! I'm crying tears from laughing into my lunch..
It's a great idea, though! I just fear that the channel mixing would result a little more complicated this way - especially with increasing angulation of the aircraft..
