If I update BF from 3.1.6 to 3.1.7 will I loose all my PIDs and other settings?

Yes, when you flash it, it will go to the 3.1.7 default settings. If you go to the Betaflight wiki, it will show the changes that were made. If the changes made are nothing that will benefit you and you like 3.1.6, there may not even be any reason to update.

whenever you flash/update firmware, always make a backup as well as a copy of CLI dump Smile
But yea like Renov8r said... if it works then there is no reason to update it Smile unless there is a new feature or bug fix you want

It pays to be careful doing a save and restoring it back to a different version.

If you're only saving rates, it should be OK, but before you restore PID settings, it's important to read the release notes and make sure that nothing was changed regarding how PID settings are handled.

Doing a complete dump and restoring that between versions might end up doing strange things if defaults or specific settings have changed the way they work between releases.

The best way to deal with this is to save a 'diff' rather than a 'dump'. Then, review the parameters that would be changed by loading the 'diff' into the new release.

Text compare is also a very useful tool when restoring from a dump. copy/paste the backup dump and new dump and compare them:
