TX16S Mk2 Complete Newbie Question
#1
I just got my first Tx that uses EdgeTX, the RadioMaster TX16S Mk2 max.  I know nothing about EdgeTX nor OpenTX but I am learning.  I ordered the ELRS version but I'm worried they may have sent the wrong one.  When I turn the tx on I get  splash screen as show in the attached pic.  You can see it says "Multi", but the photos I've seen on-line say "ExpressLRS".  I thought maybe I just have to switch it over to ELSR so under the "tools" menu I tried by tapping on "ExpressLRS" but all it does is says "loading" but nothing ever happens.  It just seems stuck trying to load it.

So is this me or did they send me the wrong Tx version?  The box does says ELRS on it, if that helps.

Thank you!

If it has the ELRS sticker on the box, it should be the ELRS version.

You may need to create a model and select the internal module for that model in order to get the internal module to actually turn on- try loading the expresslrs lua script (thing you already tried to click on that gets hung up on loading) after that?
Dangerous operations.

Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about.
I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose.

Hi,
I’m in exactly the same boat except I’ve had my radio for over 6 months now.
It shows elrs on my invoice.
Is there any visible difference apart from a screen or box that says elrs?
Mine says multi on startup too.
I just get a ‘ExpressLRS ????? 0.0’ and a flashing connecting… and then I get a ‘Loading… ?/?? Which I left or an hour today with no luck.
Visible signs?
Cheers for your help.

Have you connected it to anything in the 6 months you’ve owned it, or have you just been using it on a sim?

The OP didn’t update this thread, but he did have an ELRS version, and creating a model with the proper settings worked for him.

Create a model if you haven’t yet.
For that model, go to the model settings.
For Internal RF, set it to “CRSF”
Scroll down to External RF, set it to off.

Then try loading the ELRS lua like you did previously and see if it will properly load or if it’s still hanging.

While I’m sure there is a way to tell via software whether you have an internal ELRS module or an internal 4in1 module, I’m not aware of how. If you ordered the ELRS version, you most likely have the ELRS version, and there is just an issue with your model or radio settings, and we can address that if what I said above doesn’t work.

If you’d like to be sure of what you have, and are comfortable opening up your radio, if you remove the back of your radio you can easily tell.

The internal rf module is located between the gimbals, circled in red below:

If it says something like, “RM_INELRS” on it, you’ve definitely got an ELRS version:

Yup, as Lemon noted once I created a new (correct) model all is fine.

Thanks for taking the time to put all that info together.
I bought an EMAX ez pilot pro rtf kit at the same time as my TX16S mk 2 (velocidrone) about a year ago and got a happy model crux 35 with hdzero and elrs in feb this year.
I couldn’t get elrs to work/load, heard people had dramas having to send their radio away so I gave up, ordered an ext crsf module and had the shop put a nano crsf receiver on the crux 35 and everything worked a treat.
Just got my hdzero goggles after waiting 4 months, (epic) broke the ch 2 wire off my crux 35rx, waiting for the soldering stuff to get here and thought I would try elrs again.
Just opened the back of the radio up to find an internal 4in1 module. Ffs.
Probably why elrs won’t work.
Lots to learn in this hobby and with the internal elrs module being limited to 250mw maybe it’s not a bad thing.
Days of frustration and deep diving though.
Appreciate your help.

Eh, I think it’s better to have an internal 4in1 and get a higher powered external ELRS module anyway, so, y’know.

But yeah, that would explain why you can’t get ELRS to work. Tongue

Glad to hear you have soldering stuff on the way, it’s absolutely necessary in this hobby. We’ve got a few different threads around here with tips ands tricks to get you soldering like a pro.
