TS5828S & GoPro Hero 4 Black
#1
Question
Hi All,

I am new to RC & FPV, but thought I did my research properly. But my video is scrambled on the goggles/vrx.

Here is my config:
- TS5828S - http://www.banggood.com/Upgrade-TX5828-4...22653.html
- GoPro Hero 4 Black - (Connected via the cable that came with the TS5828S)
- 11.1v 3S LiPo battery
- Eachine EV800 Goggles - http://www.banggood.com/Eachine-EV800-5-...53357.html

Tests/Results
Set Channel & Band on both TX & RX to the same
1. Powered TX without camera connected, RX shows as if it picked up the signal (screen changed from snow to solid color)
2. Powered TX with camera connected, RX shows as if it picked up the signal but screen is scrambled.
Tried different channels & Bands, same results.
To ensure the Goggles are working I connect them to a video cable directly and the video looks good.
I tried a few different video resolutions, same results.

Will post pictures shortly.

Any help is much appreciated.

Sorry, but I have to ask. Did you turn the GP on?

Understood, nothing should be assumed, but yes I did have the gopro on. To be clear the scrambled video was from the gopro, I can see objects the camera is pointing at, just scrambled.

OK, did you just set the channel on the VR800 receiver to match the tx manually or did you use the auto-scan? Just wondering as I've got exactly the same setup and it works flawlessly

I tried both. Manually set it, then I tried searching. Searching stopped at several bands and channels, not only the one I set.

Hmmm the only other thing I can think of is how close is your GP to your tx? The GP puts out a huge amount of UHF interference and might be scrambling your signal.

I have it as far away as the cable will allow, same results.

Well then I'm guessing that you have one set to PAL and the other to NTSC

Any idea how to change the settings on either?

Not offhand (I'm at work with the boss staring over my shoulder haha) but there's tons of youtube videos on how to do it, it's in the settings menu

Found out that the goggles are autodetect video, no setting.

If you're getting good video connected directly to goggles, then it sounds like a problem with your tx. Do you have another one to try? Also check and make sure that the wires between your camera and tx are not close to any power wires or flight controller

Do you have the GoPro Hero 4 and you are using the bundled cable?

No, I'm just running signal and ground to the tx and powering the GP by it's internal battery. Also note that this is a temporary setup until I can get around to installing a correct camera for FPV. There's a million reasons why a GP shouldn't be used for FPV...........

So you've tried connecting the GoPro to the goggle directly and it worked fine right?
that suggests something is not working with the VTX, or at least the cable that connects the Gopro to the VTX...
Do you have a FPV camera you can test the VTX with?
