Tricks, Flaws, and Barbara
#1
Nothing too spectacular. I was at CCRC again working on my powerloops (many excluded from the video) and inverted yaw spins. This was my first day flying with filters set to PT1 and wow what a difference it made! I may finish tweaking filters later but just this one adjustment has had a significant impact on the smoothness of my flights.

Song: Barbara Streisand

Artist: Duck Sauce

Album: Duck Sauce
Record Label: Downtown Records

Made me curious, what is your setpoint weight & transition set to? (Sorry if i asked before)

I haven't played around with setpoint or transition yet. Now with filters getting me a little closer to where I want to be I am going to be working on tune again though.

Your post has me learning more about them now.

Watched this video on my lunch break, saving it here so that I can remember to re-watch after work when I can plug things in and have a look.

I thought it was pretty spectacular! (And even an inverted head wag at 3:09!) Big Grin

I'm jealous - keep it up!

I don't remember how defaults changed in the latest few versions... However if dterm transition is low (0.2-0.3) i would increase it a bit, makes sticks feel much more reliable around center (i feel it looks a bit loose in the video).

Default setpoint is like 1.2 and transition is like .25.

I'll be bumping both up this weekend to give it a try. I will probably start at 2 and .5 and bump transition up from there based on what I've learned from the video and playing around with it in liftoff.

I would leave setpoint where it is at first ... only change setpoint if you feel your quad is "lazy" on full stick inputs. Wink

On the other hand, a transition value smaller than 1 reduces PID activity around midstick - makes it smoother, but also less precise. With transition value = 1 there is no difference between full stick and center stick PID "aggressiveness". 0.5 is probably a good value to test. If it's too high it can quickly get rough though.

For me, I experiment... now that I understand these settings I'll definitely play around with both. I doubt that either will be exactly stock on any of my quads in the future... now does that mean that it'll stay at 2? probably not... but I might find that I like 1.38 or 1.12 better or something like that. We shall see! If my videos start to look like crap but I start posting how much I really love the new feel then you'll know I'm deep in experimenting and probably don't know what I am talking about again... (Which is absolutely where I am right now in advanced knowledge noob mode)
