Oscar....Thank you for sharing!  I was just thinking the other day that it would be nice to have a resource to look up connectors and what would be appropriate for different purposes.  The regular jst's are just too big sometimes.  Great post!! Big Grin

It took me a long time to figure out. The new X4R-SB (both bare and normal) have these MHF4 connectors since July 2016. All older Frsky rx, like the D4R-II and the (older) X4R have the bigger connector.

If you have a new connector and the right kind of tip for your soldering iron, it shouldn't be too hard.

Thankyou for this post Oscar ! is it even possible to krimp these (picoblade) small connectors by your self ?
would like to, because these are mostly used on FPV cameras, and sometimes the supplied cable
is made from vinyl instead of silicon isolation, already have a selection of 30 AWG wire.

It is quite possible!

You need:

A high quality crimp tool.
Excellent eyesight.

I use the Engineer PA-09 crimp tool from Japan: http://www.engineer.jp/en/products/pa09e.html

While not exactly cheap, the precision that this tool is made with makes all the difference when it comes to crimping these microscopic connectors. Cheap tools just don't work properly on something this small.

I already have the "in one go" krimp tool, but this one is queit hard to handle, but just enough to do the so called servo connectors, The PA-09 is a two step tool, and i guess by your answer, better suitable for the small pico blade jst connectors,
The PA-09 is only available on pre-order here in the Netherlands, but would be smart purchase for me, and is only a one time expense Smile

Yes, it's a two step tool and works very well for Picoblade and JST-SH connectors.

I bought mine from a company in the UK via eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/universal-mini...3a80c50970

Postage to me in Sweden was not too bad at £8.
