Throttle suddenly goes up
#1
Hi

I have a newly buildt ZMR250 copy with blheli ESC on version 14.8 and running SP F3 Flight Controller. Setup with PPM and OneShot (ask if more is needed, I'm a BEGINNER!)

I have now run it all together for about 6-7min in the living room. And in those few minutes I have had three incidents where the motors suddenly startet to rev up sending the machine in the roof [Image: redface.gif] and then it cuts back to normal and smashes in the floor. (Not sure if it revs to max or cuts down to zero or back to where it was before it happend.)

Anybody have any idea why this is happening?

Just asking if you happen to fire up the quad and just let it sit there for a while (props spinning).. for if you do the motors will "wind up" and send the quad into the air.

check what is your failsafe setting (on rx, and FC) maybe you have rx failsafe to set channel to 100% and you have some kind of dropout ?
All the best

Done some research..

In cleanflight I can see in the Receiver tab that when trhottle passes approx 1500, then all the other values goes to 1500. Even the Aux1 and Aux2 that are set up for arming and Angle/Horizon. When I lower the throttle below 1500 all the other values goes back to normal.

are you using D4R-II?
With Frsky D4R-II receiver, make sure you have the latest firmware installed to use more than 6 channel PPM. Basically with the old firmware, where the signal width was 18ms, it caused problems when you use more than 6 channel in CPPM. The new firmware resolved the issue by using 27ms signal width.

I'm using a Devo 10 with Deviation on it. Togheter with a Redcon CM703 from Banggood. And using PPM.

But after rechecking, going through a new flashing in BLHeli and setting up everything in CleanFlight it suddenly worked. Irritating enough, I don't know why it suddenly worked. The only thing I changed in my opinion is the Beeper setting in BLHeli?? And lowered the minimum throttle value in CleanFlight.

Now I was a Happy puppy, and moved on tuning the lower revs on the throttle/motor. Had some issuse, and changed from 3S to 4S (thinking that my 3S bat was empty). My first 4S bat, just "clicked" and got hot after some seconds, so I just disconnected this one (4S, 60C, 1800mah). Tried then my other 4S (60C and 1100mah) this had no "clicking" and looks ok. Startet to rev the motors gently, and suddenly one engine started to smoke  ROFL

Then I have fixed one issue and made another. So no I need to find out what happend so I can fix it. (Motors, Esc and PDB supports both 3S and 4S)???

Did you rev the motors with the motor sliders in motor tab only, or did you run them with tx when it happened?

Hmmm not actually sure, but I think I used the Radio. Where using both "simultaniously".

Should i ONLY use clean flight (blheli)?

It's important to know about the difference between both, to track problems. When running motors via motor tab sliders only, there are no PID active. If you run them with tx, PID will be active which, without props, can lead to weird behaviour and also overheat things quickly.

But if your motor ran hot just from motor tab sliders it's more likely an electrical problem (short, too long screws or something).

I see your point about being aware of what I'm doing. But at that point I was almost giving up and trying different things around and lost track (Note to self).

I earlier have had the quad in the air totally for approx 6-7min so I guess any errors like that would have already occurred?

I can still read the ESC in BLHeli. Does that mean that the ESC's are OK?
